I had my bathroom change 14 years ago into a walk in shower .we had to have a chair on wheels so i could push my husband in as he couldnt walk .it was great to keep clean i did alter the bathroom after my DH died and now regret doing so .

We had the bath taken out of the very nice bathroom when we moved here last summer due to my arthritic knees. Our plumber replaced it with a shower tray the size of the bath and fitted glass panels to make a large walk-in-shower.

We were able to retain the shower ceiling rose and remote control shower which had previously been over the bath. Total cost was about £1000 but money well-spent and we love it. As MrsJamJam says it will be possible to fit a shower seat if/when we get doddery.

I would definitely try a local plumber or builder first Tracy.

Input one in my bedroom before I had my hip replacement as we,, also a higher toilet.

We revamped our bathroom just before I had my hip replacement and I am so glad we did. The walk in shower is wonderful but the best bit was the higher toilet - my special request. I am 5'10" and it has made a huge difference.

We just put in a walk in shower, my OH and SIL did the installation, I agree they are wonderful and so much less faff than the shower over bath which we had before. I haven't used out bath for a very long time due to arthritic hips and spine , this is just perfect.. I know if you use an bathroom installer they are very expensive, its a pity you don't know a competent builder/plumber as I felt I got just what I wanted by going to the shop with my installer and talking through all the options before we bought..

I used my lump sum on retirement to revamp our bathroom with a gorgeous walk in shower. Designed it ourselves and got a local builder to do the installation. It's wonderful and when we get infirm we can get a shower seat fitted into it.

Am about to have one put into the en-suite but my SiL will be doing it (he is a builder). He has put them in a number of places including my DDs house.

Does anyone here have a walk-in shower or know of anyone who has? Has anyone heard of Premier Bathrooms and are they any good?
