Digital Kitchens scales - small amounts.

My son bought me a very nice scale,brand name salter.It is about 7 inches by 9 and made of a tempered glass. seems sturdy and is easy to clean.Battery has lasted several years. It has a digital readout in the flat surface. It is very accurate.

amazon has them.Id give you a link but I use a iPad.Looks like they have several to choose from.Mine is Salter 1041WHDR.

My digital scales are from Joseph Joseph and are absolutely brilliant. They are a very good shape and the bowl fits neatly over the top. But the best thing is that at the press of a button you can change the units - ie, grammes, lbs and ozs, mls, etc., which means that using old recipes is very easy as you don't have to try to change anything.

My digital scales are also salter but only weighs grams in increments of two so 123 Grammes is a no no it's 124 or122

Shortly after Christmas I treated myself to a set of old fashioned balance scales with metric weights.
Black cast iron, on a wooden base with a stainless steel scoop. The weights I bought are modern, cylindrical and come with a circular wooden box drilled to take each weight which makes it very easy to check none of the small ones have gone missing.

They are more pricey that most but I am sure more accurate.

After having tried two digital ones that stopped working properly, and spring balance ones that became unreliable, my new ones are sheer bliss. They measure accurately to 5grms, and you don't really need to bother with less accuracy unless you are a chemist or a crack dealer.

I've also got the Joseph Joseph digital scales and they are amazing!

Use them for everything as they are so quick and easy; even weigh out my breakfast cereal!!

I've got the Salter ones and love the fact that you can keep zeroing them.

But, aren't 5 grams the same as 5 ml therefore 1 teaspoon? Or is that why I can't cook?
