E-cloths

scrim cloth for window cleaning is the absolute best . its only sold in window cleaning supply stores and has to be "broken in" which takes several washes - but then its good for at least 5 yrs praps more

I like the e cloths - originals are expensive but worth it in the long run I think. I get them in B&Q or Homebase.

Now that's an idea Harrigran! Must give that one a go...

I have e cloths for shower cleaning and avoid doing the work by nipping in before DH and then saying "give it a wipe over when you are finished"

I've bought my last few E cloth look-a-likes from Tesco and they seem to do the job just as well.

Also keep a couple of special ones by the back door for cleaning the dog's feet when he comes in wet. Easier to use than the old towels that I used to use

I dunno, I keep hearing about ladies cleaning their shower before stepping out but I always think by the time I've cleaned the cubicle and the tiles and the polished etc. I'll need another shower! Maybe it's just me...

Me too. Swish and swipe as Fly Lady says. Get the job out of the way first thing.

I buy the original E cloth from Lakeland - and sorryAnno but I do not find the Dunelm ones, although good, not as good as the actual E cloths - not so thick.
The window cleaner washing cloth I have is sort of waffle and is good at cleaning the window and the thin cloth for the polishing afterwards. Starting off I would suggest you get the original set which is a teal coloured thick cloth and a thin blue one. I still use these for the shower and also at times the windows in the bathroom.
I have a microfibre pad thing on an adjustable handle which I wipe the tiles down each time in the shower and can reach the ceiling height ones and rarely if ever have a big cleaning job - do most of my bathroom cleaning in the nude!!!

They don't remove grease. You still need some washing up liquid in the water when you clean windows, otherwise you get smears next time the sun shines.

I use this for washing windows, and this for drying and shining the glass.

For the bath, you need to use some cleaner every so often.

The Dunelm version is just as good as the Lakeland and far cheaper.

I think they are very good in Lakeland but tend to wait for their three for two offers and stock up.john Lewis are also good quality. I've been told that pound shop ones are rubbish. I still use the occasional products for mould in dark corners but it does make a difference to glass having these cloths.

Funny enough, Bez, the Lakeland website has awful reviews for their own brand - thought it was very brave of them to let them stay - but I am tempted because the originals are really quite pricey.

Do you need a different cloth for different functions? They market them that way but what makes them different? I've seen some all-purpose ones - are they worth starting with or is it better to grab the right types at the outset? (I can't believe I'm really asking such detailed questions about cleaning cloths - is this a sign I have too much time on my hands? Lol!!)

I have had a some of these E cloths for five or six years - the Lakeland ones are a far better cloth than any other microfibre one I have bought. You can now get them for all sorts of cleaning (good for granite work tops) and also buy the thinner finishing one separately - the thin one is great for removing any smears etc - I use them as a matter of course on shower screen glass each time I use the shower. The Lakeland spray for removing any mould around the edges in the bathroom is good too.
I was surprised about them running in the washing machine as I have not experienced that with them but will be wary. If they should be used by other family members who get things like paint on them it does come out when washed.

I've never heard of them but it sounds worth having a go if I can find anywhere that sells them.

They DO keep it all sparkling and are great for stainless steel, but be warned -don't wash the cloths in the machine with anything else! They run. However if you have several (the floor mop one is superb, the window ones mean you can throw away the Windolene and the surface ones surface well!) you can save them up and have a mega e-cloth wash!

That was my question Nelliemoser. They are expensive (around a fiver a shot if you go for the originals) but apparently they are brilliant and do away with the need for sprays and chemicals etc. so are both eco-friendly and eco-nomical! Lol! I have a new kitchen with stainless steel appliances and granite worktops and these were suggested as the best way to keep it all sparkling...time will tell I expect!

Thanks for your comments. I've just had a quick look at Lakelands website nd the original e cloths have excellent reviews. If I can swap all the spray bottles I've gathered for a few cloths I'll be happy...

I suspect the E stands for Eco but I might be wrong.

I've got a couple but tend not to use them. I feel as if I have to spray dettox onto things for them to be really clean. I suppose I could fill the dettox spray with water and use the cloth and pretend the water is dettox and then my brain wouldn't hurt [?].

It's a bit like my computer. I don't know how it works, I don't care how it works, it's just brilliant.....I love e cloths.

I think the window cleaning ones from Lakeland do seem to work better for windows than other ones, but mostly they are all much of a muchness.

Why are there different cloths for different types of cleaning? Or are they all the same and its just another way to make us buy more?

I don't know what the 'e' stands for though.

That's why, when you wash them,, you don't use fabric softener. Because you would block the holes. I like e-cloths.
