Definite spring cleaning urge brought on by taking down the decs on 12th night. I really, really want to re gloss a few skirting boards!

have been knitting a Patons Rose Fairy Doll (lovely in the picture!) - got so fed up with stitching her up that I quite enjoyed the stabbing action with the needle when sewing on her head.

No! It's all in my head but isn't getting translated into any meaningful activity.

There is a thread about ironing [under news-Kirstie Allsop] that got me thinking, is there a household chore that anyone actually likes? YES! for me anyway, I enjoy polishing.It's the only thing that I willingly do.So I must be like 'Her indoors' from Minder, there is an episode which made my DH laugh when Arthur and Terry are looking around a wealthy client's house and there is a grand piano, and Arthur says 'Cor! Her indoors would love that!' Terry says' Oh she plays does she?' and Arthur says'No, no, she just likes polishing things'.

I tried it on New Years Day. When I knelt on the armchair to hoover behind it, I put my knee out. Then I wenched my arm somehow and can't use it at all now. Maybe I need a cleaner!

Wow hope I can catch this bug we having loft ladder fitted nxt wed so need serious sort out not loft done that just we got lose chest drawers and have 2 full up lot junk trouble is so many old photos cards etc

Anyone else sentimental about cards given by loved ones? Mainly husband.

I had a similar clear out 3 years ago, and it went to my head, as I felt so free of clutter in so many ways. I suspect I took my new approach to extremes. Any item of clothing I hadn't worn over the summer, went to the charity shop when my winter clothes came down from the attic. Come the next summer, when it didn't rain every day, and the sun shone occasionally, I found I'd no summer clothes. They'd all gone to the charity shop after the year when it started to rain in April, and continued until September.

Just revisiting this thread, to boast about my cleaning and decluttering efforts. Have made 3 trips to charity shop and two trips to the dump.
Once I started it just snowballed, I couldn't stop. Sitting down now catching up with Gransnet, but planning what I'm going to attack tomorrow. Its all been very cathartic and the cat has had a ball, jumping into draws, climbing up curtains and nearly getting put into the boot of the car for a trip to said charity shop.
OOps just realised that I have misspelt drawers. Although quite a few old pairs of draws were dumped during the process.

In certain frames of mind, clearing out and doing a spot of cleaning can be quite therapeutic. In other frames of mind, it's the last thing I want to do. My children in turn, all told me they knew something was up, if I started cleaning the windows. Since retirement, my relationship with domesticity has calmed down a bit. I do a bit most days, but other than the pre and post-decoration cleaning, only a bit!

A very kind person bought me two boxes of floral smelling lining paper for drawers and I have emptied all the drawers in my chest and relined them throwing all sorts of odd socks/bra's/knick's and what not out all the white furniture in the bedroom has been washed and polished I'm looking at the lounge and thinking maybe next week ? you don't want to do too much all in one go do you

Yes, I am doing the same; I think it's when the Christmas decs. come down isn't it?Gave all the lounge furniture a thorough polish yesterday, and will do the same today for furniture in the hall and the bedrooms [if I ever get off Gnet.]Looks good when it has that polish smell and glowing with not a speck of dust.shame that visitors never call when it looks so good, only on days when it needs doing, it's one of those laws I think.

I've been doing a bit more cleaning.

I'm more into decluttering at the moment. Took some stuff down from the loft and took it to a charity shop.

The first one I tried said they weren't accepting anything because they had so much stuff at the moment, so I assume many others have been doing the same as me.

Exactly Soutra- Spring cleaning is for ... Spring (and can wait... perhaps even for another Spring)- just like decorating. I hate to decorate when I can't have all the windows open to get rid of paint smells, etc.

To return to the original question ... Yes it's you! I'm quite happy to wait for signs of spring then I'll think about it. In the meantime I have serious hibernating to do

Slow down, peeps! It's still winter and my dust is clogging up the gaps in doors to keep the heat in. I'll be back in April if there's some sunshine
