Tumble Dryers

I will bestow any lady with at least a knighessthood if they can enlighten me as to how I can prevent my bedsheets from rolling up into a tight ball within minutes of the drying cycle. Despite my tumble dryer being brand new, it is worse for this fault than my old model was.

Hi petrapan no need for a knighthoodsmile but the problem is that you are only putting in ONE sheet and so it gets tangled.

To prevent rolling never put just one sheet, always put in a few things together smile

In my experience, it doesn't matter what you put in with the sheet, it still rolls into a ball and includes whatever is in with it I have even got some of those spikes tumbler balls and it still happens.
I frequently have to stop my dryer to shake the sheet out. I have found that once the sheet is half dried, it doesn't tend to ball as much.

A little house I rented after leaving DH1 had a Miele tumble drier. Absolutely brilliant for reduced creasing and balling shock

Wish I could have afforded one when we were kitting out this house.

Thank you Eliza for your advice, however, I have also tried two sheets (King size) plus pillowcases and it still balls within seconds.
I tend to agree with Phoenix that the top end dryers, which cost a fortune, may be marginally better but maybe not enough to warrant their price. I bought the John Lewis Signature Hotpoint dryer which seemed the best of the middle end with a 9k drum thinking it would handle anything.
Never mind, I haven't given up yet and, as it seems to be a common problem with lots of brands of dryers, I will keep this dryer and put the little grey cells to work.
I am seldom beaten by inaminate objects, is this going to be the first?
When and if I make progress, I will shout out loud.

Petrapan you could complain to John Lewis, I find them very helpful if I have problems with their products, they may possibly also have some advise.

Yes, Eliza, I will discuss it with both John Lewis and Hotpoint Customer Care and see what they have to say.

I had this problem with my Miele dryer, because it does not reverse while drying. I found that using a couple of tumble dryer balls solved it most of the time. You can get them for a few pounds from Amazon (I use Dryangles). Some people say you can use a couple of tennis balls instead. Hope this helps.

I have had just two Tumble Driers in many years and have never had a problem with things rolling up.Both had reverse tumbling which may be the answer,my first was a Servis and my current one a Creda. It is used every day in winter.

Blimey, those Miele dryers cost a fortune - you'd think they'd have got it right! hmm
