Domestos top causes havoc

I would undo the u bend, put a bucket underneath and smash it with a screwdriver and hammer.
I hope you see where I'm going with this. The idea of undoing the u bend is to catch the bits so they don't go any further down the pipe.

Oh dear...sad
I don't think our plugs are removable - seem to be part and parcel of the bath/basin unit.

Had removed the plug to give a thorough clean and top is now securely wedged and having have numerous people attempting to dislodge is now leaking so outlet pipe is wrapped in towels until Monday.

You know something if I tried to do this as an experiment I couldn`t do it so why oh why can something so stupid cause such misery and havoc?

You could start a domestic disaster blog sparkygran and we could all try and top each others stories [see what I did there? TOP.... geddit?]
So expensive to get a plumber out for a job like that [and you would feel so silly!] Try getting a child of five in first though, they have nifty little fingers.

Oh how right you are - my life at the moment is a constant round of domestic disasters I contemplated running away today but couldn`t think of anywhere to go - it sounds good in theory but impractical!!!!

Domestos tops are a real pain to twist off. There must be an easier way to make them child proof although I suspect if I asked, my GC would open them for me. It's like my eye drops plastic bottle. Opening a new one can be a real struggle as they have plastic round them which has to be picked off because the red arrows suggesting that's what you pull to get it off of course doesn't work angry

Bleach tops are a nightmare. I had surgery on my right hand which isn't as strong as it used to be; and as I'm right-handed, the left hand isn't very strong either.

That's a good 'un, phoenix! grin
I can very rarely open bleach bottles these days and find that my left hand won't work the spray button on an aerosol can (just noticed the 'sort of' anagram there blush)! and it's just not possible to spray under one's left armpit with one's left hand confused. I therefore buy roll-on ones now.

Our boiler went on the blink this morning......Someone will come out to have a look at it on Monday!!! Don't need heating but neither will we have hot water. Grrrr .

I'm intrigued as to why it needs a plumber. Doesn't the plug hole have drainage holes to prevent objects going down the pipe? Is the Domestos lid just sort of wedged? confused

On the subject of deodorant/antiperspirant , I have given up on spray ones, and now stick to Mitchum roll on.

(Does remind me of that old joke, a chap goes into the chemists and asks for a deodorant, the chemist asks "ball type or aerosol?" The chap replies, neither, I want it for under me arms!")

I'll get me coat..................

I can't get the top off Domestos bottles!

I agree, it does sound like a plumber's job. An expensive clean.

I applied deodorant after my shower last night. I had to flick a switch at the rear of the canister and it got stuck in the "on" position. I had to place it in the sink, hole nearest the plughole, close and leave the bathroom until the spray had dissipated/evaporated. Naturally it was a large, new can.

Sounds like a freak occurrence - what a pain - and probably an expensive pain!!

Anybody else having a run of domestic disasters? Cleaning the bathroom today and the top of the domestos flipped off and landed in the plug hole. It is now stuck and will require a plumber.....aaarrrggghhhh!
