Do manufacturers ever consider cleaning

Re the cooker cleaning, my son and his partner recently moved and included in the sale was an extremely grimy cooker. They had it deep cleaned by one of the specialist companies and it came up as good as new. I think it cost £80 but was well worth it.

yogagran I use one and they are fabulous. Mine costs about £40.00. Well worth it to me. I have the oven done about once a year, depending on how much it is used.

yogagran I have this done every 2-3 years. It is like new after the fellow has finished.

I'm really tempted to get my cooker cleaned by one of the specialist cooker cleaning companies. Any one have any experience of using one of them?

Worst for me is the top of the Rayburn, being enamel there are a lot of things that can't be used and trying to clean around the hinges is a nightmare.

overthehill I didn't realise the glass came off either, so mine was black all over, mine has dimples all over, but the soap powder still works. Its worth a try.

Joy oh yes, I pull out the soap drawer, clean it, soak it, use every device I can find but still never get it properly clean and it seems to need doing after every wash. Of course it doesn't get done after every wash!

Newist I do remove my light covers. The problem is partly mine as I cleaned the oven and grill when I first had it and it didn't occur to me to remove them so there is a build up. However if the surface was smooth it would be so much easier.

White vinegar as a substitute for the soft rinse works wonders for cleaning the drawer of the washing machine. I use it regularly and my drawer is now pristine with no effort.

The detergent drawer in my washing machine is a mass of lumps, bumps and crevices and is a nightmare to clean - and the cavity it lives in is even worse. I've tried using a toothbrush, cocktail sticks and cotton buds to clean the little jets etc but you just can't reach the really nasty bits. I leave the drawer open between use as instructed by the idiot who wrote the manual but the yucky black gunge still builds up.

Worst things ever.

Look underneath the rubber surrounding the inside your dishwasher door.

Walking in showers/showers with a removeable plug hole doo da, revolting.

The little drain hole in fridges at the back.

I lost the handset for my newish lovely electric fire. I had to find the serial number so that a new one could be ordered. I had to take the front off i the fire and lie on my back on the floor to read the serial number. Not an easy feat when I have sight problems and I then had mega difficulty getting off the floor. While this was going on, I was on the phone to the electrician who needed the serial number!

And fridge/freezers that have to manhandled into place, then you realise that the serial number you need for the guarantee is on the back of the machine!

Shysal, I've got one of those dratted carpet cleaners too and it drives me demented trying to clean it out. I curse the designer every time I use the damn thing. What a stupid design!

overthehill I have a light in both my oven and grill, the only way I can get all the burnt in brown bits off is to take them off, mines quite easy to just twist off, then soak them overnight in a strong solution of Arial soap powder

So many things seem to have unnecessary lumps, bumps or incised lines that catch all the dirt and grease and are a nightmare to clean. A flat surface may not be very decorative but it only needs a quick wipe over.

And those trendy square wash hand basins where the taps won't swill the toothpaste spit that children leave at the opposite side to the tap.
And reading lamps which won't take a light bulb which will light a page.

I'm shamed very impressed by the other Gransnetters on this thread! I sometimes think the designers don't even try out the things they design, let alone try to clean them. Assembling and disassembling vacuum cleaners to use all the tools, for example. Teapots, coffee pots and milk jugs that don't pour. Washbasins and taps that send the water round in a swirl that splashes all down your front. And why do they put the little plate with the serial number needed to arrange repairs in the most inaccessible place?

Well Granjura I'll give it a go though I don't hold out much hope as it us pretty ingrained.
