Chairs scraping on stone floor

Carpet? Lift the chairs up instead of pulling them along? You can buy push on rubber feet for stools but it would depend on the size of your chair legs.

I hate it petallus so I'd love to know the answer too. DGS2, who is currently living with us, carries the little blue plastic stool around but when he needs to be higher he drags the chairs all over the place! At least it's an early warning system and we rush to see what he's up to!

I don't think it would be all that easy to lift the chairs. I seem to have to sit down with the chair a bit away from the table and then shuffle nearer.

I have looked at the rubber feet on Amazon. A possible solution though they are somewhat unsightly.

I wish I'd stuck to Amtico now, instead of going all modern with Porcelain.

you could try cutting slices of cork and gluing them on?

Thinking on the same lines as phoenix, but if they are going to be dragged along, maybe cork would not be durable enough, and the glue might not last too long.

What about some rubber........ remember the rubber stick on soles bought in Woolworths, or a square of carpet stuck on, all cut to size of course, or rubber from the cycle shop for mending punctures!

Would these do the trick? Rubber chair leg foot protectors that slide on, come in different sizes.

I'm going to get some - the felt stick-on pads gather dust and dog hairs!

Would rubber paint stick better than slices of rubber ot cork glued on? If it wore thin you could paint another coat.

Our chairs have square legs so those rubber thingies wouldn't work but I love the bright yellow ones!!

I have a large rug under table and chairs in the kitchen for this very reason. Does need vacuumed after a visit from GDs though!

Had a look at the rubber thingies on Amazon and am quite tempted except they are round and our chair legs are square.

Also, I did consider a rug of some sort but the dining end of the kitchen is not all that big.

There are some square ones, Petallus. On EBay, too. I've just emailed the company to ask for exact sizing for my chairs, as the descriptions don't give a size for mine on any of the ones that look suitable. They're mostly made by the same company.

My dining chairs came with discs (silicon I think) stuck on the legs. They are brilliant and don't make a noise or scratch my wooden floor.

I've found some square rubber ones on Amazon and am about to order the 25mm ones. They also have 20mm.

You could knit little socks for them. There are some very pretty yarns around to match your colour scheme.

Socks for the chair legs - just love it.
But I'm sure DH would think I had completely lost my mind.
At present we felt on the bottom of chairs/table/sofa etc and it's been on for years though the dining chairs do need de-fluffed every couple of months.

Update:

I square rubber thingies were delivered yesterday and I tried them on a chair. They did not work too well. For a start, the rubber still made a bit of a noise when the chair was moved, also chair didn't slide under table so well. Also, the black rubber just did not go with the rest of the kitchen.

So it's back to the stick on foam things which I've had before. It's true they have to be defluffed and sometimes they come unstuck but still the best option.
