....don't think the hairspray did anything...

Must be non acetone remover [so as not to remove any adhesive from the carpet]. Also hairspray works. What would we do without Mr Google. I'm going to try it on an old t shirt I was going to throw out. I did spill some nail varnish onto a carpet the other week but it must have been a miniscule amount as I couldn't find where it had gone.

How timely is this thread! My DH texted me this morning to ask if I knew how to remove nail varnish from a carpet. DGD had dropped a bottle of blue which is all over the stair carpet. I told here to use Google. There are lots of sites including wikihow, and even videos on youtube showing you how to do it. Good luck.

A few years ago I got some bright pink nail varnish on my cream bedroom carpet. It did come off with nailvarnish remover although I did treat it straight away before it had had chance to properly dry out. I really had nothing to lose as I couldn't have made it much worse than it was. One word of warning though is that when I first rubbed it the stain seemed to dilute and got bigger for a while but then eventually it all came off. I did use several fresh clothes though so as not to transfer it back. Good luck numberplease smile

Will nail varnish remover get the stuff out of fabric? I don`t use it, but have been touching up the handle of my walking stick with black nail varnish, and stupidly dripped a bit onto the chair, and also my t-shirt.
