Tumble drier balls

Thank you for the advice everyone. I think I probably won't bother with them unless I'm drying towels and DH has gone out!

I use them when drying towels and I think they help to fluff them up.
My tumble drier is in my utility room so the noise doesn't bother me.

I don't use them. The noise would drive me crazy though, if they are banging around.

Our drier is in the garage so the noise didn't matter but I just thought they were a blasted nuisance.

I do put tennis balls in with my down gilet though!

I remember reading a Good Housekeeping review of theses and tumble drier sheets and they found there was no advantage to using either just additional cost. No I don't use them.

Are they any use? Do they speed up the drying and save energy, or just make a hell of a noise and annoy DH? (Bit of a domestic dispute going on here.)
