There was an article in the Womens Weekly about this a few months ago.
The writer had exactly the same thoughts.
I will see if I can find the article somewhere, and find out what word she came up with.

Less house to clean
smaller utility bills
downsizing means clearing out years of clutter
less lawn to mow, less beds to fill , shrubs to clip.

that all adds up to more time and money to spend enjoying life, the only downside I found was not much room for family to come and stay as we only have two bedrooms now.. but actually its not such a downside after all grin

We downsized over 25 years ago when our children were small to make it possible for my OH to get off the treadmill he was on. The word has nothing but positive connotations for me. Enjoy your new start.

Realistically we are rattled around in our family sized home and are considering downsizing. However, the word itself indicates a backward step, negative thoughts. Does anyone has a more optimistic word to indicate this step in our lives? I want to look forward to it, but struggling to see the benefits except of course money-wise.
