Thank you all.I am going to get an external vented one. And I rather thought that a glass one might be trouble. Stainless steel form me!

The glass tops are a pain in the proverbial!

Mine also has lights which packed up when only about 2yrs old.We have replaced bulbs but lights still don't work.

I would so agree about an outside vented one. I don't have one of those just a hood with filters which isn't very efficient.

It is best to get an outside vented one with filters you can put in the dishwasher. They all get greasy and need regular cleaning, but on stainless ones the bits missed don't show so much! X

I am thinking about buying an extractor fan/cooker hood. A lot of them have a curved glass top. I can't help feeling that this will get very obviously dirty and greasy. Is that right please? Any comments/advice?
