Has anyone tried these, and are they as good as they say? The prices are exhorbitant, but for a lifetime of good sleep, maybe worth it. I would love to hear anyone's views.

People seem to eother love them or hate them.
I tried one but found it difficult to move once lying on it (you sort of sink in to it) and I got too hot.
I bought a good mattress which incorporated a Tempur foam layer, and it's blissful. At first it felt too firm but love it now; be warned, they are extremely heavy mattresses too, impossible to move unless at least 4 of you!
See if you can try one first.
I do use a Tempur pillow, which is very good.

Meant to add that when we bought ours, about 13 years ago, we could send it back after a specific period (1 month?) if we didn't like it. Does that still operate? I think it takes that long to get used to it.

I love mine but they are hot. (I am still only using my summer weight 4.5tog duvet). The biggest problem is the weight which makes tucking in a fitted sheet more difficult and also moving the bed on the (very) rare occasion I want to clean underneath. Fortunately the mattress never needs turning !

I could not imagine life without mine, or the pillow, especially before and after various joint operations. Ours is on a sprung mattress and is quite high, which has also been a great benefit. But I do know people who say they are very hot - haven't noticed!

I find it very comfy, but also very warm only need a summer duvet on all year round. Its one of those things you like or don't.

Very good if you have a restless partner. No bounce!

We've had ours around 15 years and it's still as good as new.

I don't find it to hot as some have said, but they do tell you not to use an electric blanket as it uses body heat to shape itself to your shape. (I have been know to have a hot water bottle briefly if it's a very cold night)

It's really helped DH's bad back as it supports well and you tend to lay more still.

Oh, and you don't need to periodically turn it.

It took a few months to get used to it but wouldn't be without it now. we also only use a summer duvet all year round.
Turning over on it takes a bit of practice.

Turn over tummywards and not backwards works!

I bought mine last year and love it. It's good if you and partner are different weights as you just mould into your side , no rolling into a hollow in the middle! I don't find it over hot, just keeps you toasty warm, but I don't have a heavy duvet. It is the most comfortable mattress I have ever had and I love the pillow as well. It does weigh a ton though. Go into john lewis or similar shop, and try lying on the different ones.

Thank you all for very useful views. We've taken the plunge and ordered one, after an afternoon of trying out the various hardness. At the moment I sleep, admittedly with an open window near by, under summer and winter weight feather duvets, with a sleeping bag to hand for the early morning! So I shall be fascinated to see what I fling off. Shall donate electric blanket to
DD.

45 years ago when we married our first mattress was Dunlopillo, it weighed a ton but lasted years and was so comfortable.
When we replaced it because Dunlopillo mattresses were so expensive we moved on to memory foam(not sure if this is the same as Tempur) and have been very please. There are different qualities of memory foam you need to try before you buy.
You don't sink into it but is is very soft and cosey. It is heavy but not as much as Dunlopillo.
I don't like sprung mattresses I find them very uncomfortably without a topper.
