Mini snagging used to be on my list of jobs before handover to new house buyers when I worked for building companies and it used to be my favourite part of the job,women can snag far better than any man imo we can see things they can't you would be surprised how many switches where fitted out of line or door handles put on the wrong way,tiles with mismatched patterns it didn't make me very popular on site when I took the lists to the site agent though.

'Snagging' refers to all the little bits and pieces that need to be done to finish a job properly or correct mistakes, eg if tiling's been done the builder may need to redo a bit of grouting, a window fitter may need to adjust the locks etc.

What's a 'snagging list'?

I had a snagging list yesterday for my housing officer so today have been inundated with appointments for people coming round. It's my birthday next week, I'm not well, got antibiotics and steroids from doc this morning so want a quite one this year. Just me, cake and the tele. Let's hope some lovely fit repair man doesn't show up!

He managed to finally repair it and we made it to the concert with minutes to spare. Concert was lovely. Children sang beautifully.

Landlord's parting words were, "If that goes again I'll call in the plumber. I'm not going through that again."

I'll remind him of that when it goes wrong again.

This seems to be fairly typical of private landlords - anything to save a buck. My DD's last landlord would never call in a professional to do a job that he could bodge himself. The upstairs flat had a badly fitted bath/shower and it would periodically leak through my DD's kitchen ceiling. Her landlord would go up and slap a bit of mastic round the bath and bodge the damaged ceiling downstairs. A week later it would happen again.
Her bathroom was a damp mess, always going black with mould. He told her it was her fault because she didn't ventilate the room enough. Well, she never closed the door, even when showering (she lived alone), and she never closed the window, even in winter. One of his 'solutions', when redecorating the bathroom, was to grout the tiles with waterproof silicone mastic sealant, which had the effect of trapping the penetrating damp behind the tiles, which then started to lift off (he never considered dealing with the penetrating damp problem).

vampirequeen....I've always been amazed at how arrogant men can be about there so called DIY skills. I used to joke that no woman I knew would suddenly buy a sewing machine and expect to make a wedding dress without even knowing how to thread the needle.

Can you not turn the water off at the mains?
