Adjustable beds

It's time for us to replace our bed. For several years we've had a memory foam mattress which I am convinced makes my night time hot flushes worse. My DH wants to replace the bed with an adjustable one as he suffers from chest problems and often has to prop himself more upright in bed (really difficult and annoying with pillows etc!). So we are looking at adjustable beds. It's got to be a king size and in two parts as I don't want my side to be propped up! My concern is that we shall be very aware of the "join" in the middle. Does anyone have experience of these adjustable beds please
