Cream leather

Thanks everyone for your comments. The decision has been made ! Only took a week. We have gone for chestnut which is quite a dark brown but with some shading. Bit like a conker l suppose. Anyway thanks again. X

About seven years ago we bought a cream leather tub chair for the bedroom.
it hasn't stained, but it has yellowed significantly.

We have recently taken delivery of a cream leather suite after much deliberating. We have always taken the sensible option, dark colours, fabrics that won't show the dirt. Then we saw this lovely suite in the shop and I said to DH 'that is so beautiful, shall we throw caution to the wind?' We did and I love it. We asked the salesman re keeping it free of marks and he said we would be provided with a care kit and an ink removing kit etc. We also took out a not too expensive insurance plan so that if it was marked and they couldn't get the mark off they would replace it. We don't have small children visiting now and have no pets so
it's just us really, so it should be fine (fingers crossed!).

We have a cream leather suite. I would not have another one because of dye transfer, especially from jeans. We were not warned in the shop about dye transfer. If they had told us I would have chosen the same suite in a darker colour.

I have an ivory coloured suite,I find it very easy to keep clean,I use throws when grandkids come visiting and also if wearing jeans,wouldn't go back to a dark colour again.

We have a dark brown leather suite. Sounds boring but it works wonderfully well with every colour scheme. It is 8 years old, has come through Dgc climbing over it every few days (no shoes), sticky fingers etc etc. It's in daily use and still looks very new.

Ds and family have a mid grey leather suite which is also practical.

A friend with cream leather has resorted to using Big to try and clean it !!

The knowledgeable staff in our local independent store steered us away from cream to a sort of mushroom colour. Sounds horrid but works well with carpet and decor and is so easy to keep clean. Maybe they knew more than we did.

I have a aniline brown leather suite and regularly have to clean newsprint from where DH sits...I dread to think what it would be like if it was cream leather.

The beauty salon I go to has 2 cream leather chairs and both look disgusting because they are filthy. The area where a person would sit is black and I am sure that an attempt would have been made to clean them and it has failed.

That would not be my choice of colour for that reason.

I'd go for something more like an antiqued tan, personally. I have a cream leather coat and hardly wear it because I worry that it looks fake!!
I think cream could look grubby or shabby in time whereas an antiqued leather is deliberately so!

Jeans. I have a lovely cream leather office chair, that started to look decidedly grimy. I was forever having to wipe it down, then realised that the dye from my jeans comes off on it. It does come off, but it's annoying. I worry that one day I will have wiped all the outer coating off and it will start to really stain.
