Jinglbellsfrocks perhaps you clean more thoroughly every week than I do!!
Although I will admit there is not so much dirt around without coal fires.

(reminds self to clean the tops of all the doors before the decorator comes and finds the dust on top.)
And to make the house more minimalist afterwards so there are not so many things to move when cleaning.

Some would say that only dirty people spring clean. Just saying.

Carolebarrel a dehumidifier has worked wonders in a single skin house like yours.

Surely we don't need to Spring clean anymore?! With clean heating and vacuum cleaners, washing machines and reasonable indoor drying possibilities, we can keep the house clean enough all year round. Totally out dated concept.

I'm with the 'Dust is a protective covering for furniture' brigade, just try and keep on top of things without embarking on a 'spring clean', I too would rather be in the garden in spring.
Shiny surfaces show way too much dust so I try and avoid. I keep spare cushions in the airing cupboard so can have a change now and again at no extra expense and love browsing for bits and pieces in the charity shops - I try to give as much to charity shops as I buy to avoid overfilling the house lol.

It's always too early for spring cleaning. I am of the as and when necessary way of cleaning.

Ah yes, MIL's house was like that.
She used to have small plastic buckets of some sort of moisture absorbing crystals in all the bedrooms.

A condensation problem - old house with solid walls, so no insulation. Bbrrr!

After we took the decorations down I took a trip to the fabulous Dunelm Mill Store and treated the lounge to two teddy bear type thro's to drap over the arms of the two sofa's in burgundy and cream they have really warmed up the room and added some comfort on dark nights,also some nice cheap glass candle holders for the coffee table.That will be enough until the big Spring clean and redecoration in May.

I hang the curtains up while still wet and if the creases don't drop out I waft the steam iron in front of them.

To answer the original question - it's not too early to spring clean. My experience is that you do things best when you really feel the urge to do them, so do it when you feel like it. If that's now, then, all the better - especially as nature is telling us it's spring anyway with the daffs out and all.

grannyactivist Just enjoy being on jury service, if you do enjoy that sort of thing. I was called a few years ago and loved it. Got a case that lasted a week so could get my teeth stuck into it. I'm so glad that I have ticked that one off.

I brightened up my home by sending myself some beautiful flowers on Saturday. I will, however, book my cleaner to come and do an extra hour for a couple of sessions to pull out the settee, tele and clean behind as well as inside kitchen cpuboards.

I also cheered myself up and spring cleaned myself with booking my first break of the year, in a few weeks, for a week this time, with my doggie, so I have that to look forward to.

I also booked in for my smear, blood tests and going to dentist later today so spring cleaning myself more than the house. Need to go to optician too and have hearing test.

Due to maybe having to downsize again within the next year or so, I am going to go through bags, boxes under bed, in attic and get rid of all the stuff I no longer use/need.

If any of you do have towels or bedding spare, I do know that the PDSA take them willingly for their poorly pets and very much appreciated.

Before Christmas I spent most of my time in Manchester with my poorly mum, then over the Christmas period I was madly busy catching up on everything that had been neglected whilst I was away and meeting up with the rest of the family. I usually get stuck into spring cleaning straight after Christmas but I'm now on two weeks jury service and when that's done I need to get back up to Manchester - so it will have to wait.

I'm usually kept very busy, but the pace of life at the moment is very, very tiring - and in the middle of it all I really would like to catch up on some housework. I was able to leave the court slightly earlier today and am just having a tea-break after cleaning the kitchen, dining room and hall - before starting on the sitting room. Other rooms will have to wait for quite a bit longer I'm afraid.
Can I confess that I do quite get into spring cleaning and really enjoy that post-Christmas purge on the house?

Curtains are quite simple to make, however, they can be very heavy (not as strong as I used to be 15 years ago!), especially if you line them and then they have to be hemmed perfectly or else they will annoy you.
Carolebarrel, why are your windows wet? - do you have a condensation problem or a leak? Could it be that the gutters need sorting out?
