Soft close toilet seats

Sorry to hear that Moray. I hope things are working out for you treatment wise.

Im glad Im not alone with a badly fitting loo seat, I just got a new one, not a soft closing one and it will not stay put. At present it is lurching to the right side of the loo, If I tighten it it will go the other way.
Why does anyone need a self closing lid, you can just relapce it carefully after using.
Im not into feng shuey (or what ever they call it).

Judthepud2, I fully accept your point. Tizliz, I guess I do take life seriously. I have prostate cancer so I have bladder control problems.

Moray my post was not complaining about men/boys leaving the seat up, but about the length of time it takes for soft close seats to close. It really doesn't bother me otherwise if men leave the seat up or not. I love all the male members of my family dearly! But bladder control after having 4 children is very minimal

Goodness me. This is an anti men thread. There is not much respect from women for men. Very few men complain about women. However women love to complain about men especially when discussing toilets. I don't understand why women have to be so negative about men. Its sad. I feel sorry for these women. There needs to be far more give and take between the genders. In my experience women are not keen to do so.

Moray In a household, of course, each person makes allowances for the problems the other is facing.

But if we are going to discuss the mechanics of peeing and bladder problems, consider the relative time it takes to face the loo and lift the seat with one hand while preparing to pee with the other, against lowering the seat while facing the loo, then turning round and lowering trousers/pants before sitting down.

I think that in a race men would be ready to let go quicker than women. In desperation there is always the bath or the wash-basin, too, which is not exactly convenient for women.

The posts are from those who post, about their view. If more men posted, there would be more from men. Simples!

Plus, when women discuss men, it is usually with a touch of "bless him, I do love him really", but when men complain about women, it often has a bite of real resentment.

It would be helpful if both genders considered each other instead of too many posts from women complaining about men. I spent 43 years working with women so I can easily give examples of negative behaviour by women.

Judthpud2 one reason its a good idea to train everyone to close the seat and lid after use.

Many men have bladder problems and need to rush to the loo. Having the toilet lid and seat down does not help.

Nobody has yet mentioned the drawback of soft toilet seats ( and yes, ours are soft close seats as well as lids) and that is.....after DH and GSs have weed they never close seat or lid, so when I am in a big rush I have to stand exerting tight bladder control until the damn things gently and finally come down. I have been known to exert a little pressure to help them on their way....as I have had 4 children and no CSections

I wish women would remember to lift the toilet seat after use. So many women don't consider men.

Jingle Yes I have say on the toilet with the lid down. A good pelvic floor helped. There are advantages to having had 2 C sections when giving birth.

A cat sitting in the loo? Wouldn't it be sitting up to its neck in water...?

My husband bought a slow close toilet seat from Aldi as it had an integral kiddie bottom size seat clipped inside the main seat. It was a return and so cost him about £1. It's going to be useful when the DGSs come.

Hubby was very impressed withe quality of it and the excellemt fittings. It is nicer to have a slow close hinge.

If you have ever found one of your cats sitting in the loo, you would close your lid! We thought the muddy pawprints were because he gets in the washbasin for a drink, but it was worse than that!

We bought our soft close lids from Costco years ago, and they're both still fine.
We always put the lid down before flushing, as well as the water flushing down the pan, a micro mist also comes up out of the loo, and it's full of germs which I don't want all over the room!

You should close the toilet lid before flushing!
