Oh - timely - my son decided to name his son after his 1/2 brother. The 1/2 brother who gave us the most nightmares when his mother dropped him on our doorstep when he was an unruly teen. Honestly - it was horrible - there was alcohol, sex, swearing, skipping school -all in a 3 bed apartment - and here was me pregnant with our third child at the time. He's alright now - but not quite there... now it's bigger things like DUIs. I honestly don't know what my son was thinking of. He was also "in danger of" being born on his 1/2 brother's birthday! They have doomed them both to being called "Big Ben" and "Little Ben" (ain't it great?) Ugh. I've grown to (sort of) accept it - I call him Benji - just to make it easier on me! I mean Benji was a cute puppy.

One of my steps had a son and called him Cash. Cash??!!! What does he envision his career is going to be? A used car salesman? I call him Buck.

I love all my gc's names. They are all classical and all but one have 2nd/3rd names taken from their grandparents and great grandparents. One daughter went a bit whacky on a 2nd name for her DD. She loved the Celestine and the Elephant books - no, she isn't called Elephant

I love all my dgc's names although dgd's name is often shortened which makes her sound like a boy! I also have a nephew called Sholto which we were all a little surprised about, but he couldn't be anything else now.

Not GC, but throughout pregnancy called my bumps by the worst name I could imagine. DD1 was Aloysius, DD2 Ignatius and son was George. Liked the names we did eventually give all 3, although I swore blind I was not having an "Andy" - wanted "Drew", but although some of his mates call him Andy (his choice!). To us he is either known by his family pet name or the full version. But his GGF was George, his great-uncle is George and his cousin is George, so we did not want to confuse the family issue. But GGF was so chuffed at yet another named after him that we didn't have the heart to disappoint him and as the last of my line, he has my maiden name as a 3rd monicker (misspelled, as it happens (DH was so excited that he had a momentary aberration!)) At the end of the day you may like to make suggestions (DD1 has a middle name that was suggested by my Brazilian adopted sister, especially as it is a rearrangement of her name), but don't be disappointed if the parents don't oblige. So long as Katy Hopkins doesn't interfere . . .!!!

My two eldest granddaughters have lovely names which were immediately shortened to Gen and Ana. Now they are 'young ladies' they sometimes find it convenient to use their full names which I will leave with you to work out!

I told my daughter you can't call a child born in Nov, Summer, baby agreed and arrived in September. I think it's important to look at the whole package surname plus initals.

I read several articles in which VB said her daughter was named Harper because To Kill a Mockingbird was her (VB's) favourite book.

I find it fascinating that VB can do no right in the judgement of so many women. What is it about the successful mother of 4 that irritates so many that they say she's lying about the reason she chose her daughter's name. She and David are clearly loving parents, I wouldn't swop my life for hers for a gold clock frankly. Married to a man so many women (and men) would like to well, we all know what I mean. She works very hard, has four children with whom she seems to spend a lot of genuine time. I'm genuinely curious about why she creates so much antagonism.

DD and SiL called their daughter 'Twinkle' while she was a bump. One friend seriously asked me if that would be her name!!
