Washing ties

You could tack them close to the folds either side of the tie before washing them to stop them twisting then wash them by hand. This was recommended to me sometime ago, but DH has so many ties that cleaning was rarely required and if it was the tie was dry-cleaned.

You used to be able to buy a little sachet (?) with a moistened wipe for cleaning silk ties. Don't know if you can still get it but 20 odd years ago it worked!

I was using old silk ties for a craft project. I washed them all carefully by hand before taking them apart. They always twisted and creased.

The reason is; they are cut on the bias and the lining/ stiffening is a loose woven material, also cut on the cross. All this makes them almost impossible to get back into original shape.

Dry cleaning is really the only option, if you want them to be wearable.
