Steam Cleaners/Mops

I recently bought the cheapy Dirt Devil one from Argos - actually I think this was the one that jingl bought too, Ana, as it was half price at £19.99.
I am very happy with it, but not having tried one of the all-singing-all-dancing £80+ jobbies, I have no idea how it would compare with them. It can also be used as a hand held, so I'm going to have a go at the windows soon and the bathroom tiles.

I have had a hand held one from Tchibo for more than 10 years. And it still works like a charm. Since we've downsized, it's a great choice for us. DH's parents still live in their large home and have a Kärcher, which also works great. I simply find it to heavy and cumbersome for me. It's a good few years old as well.
Just one thing we have done to make sure they last is to make use of our RO water systems. Preventing scale is much better than having to use corrosives to get rid of it, especially in the smaller nozzle attachments!

Hi ladies! Thanks for your advice. It seems like steam mops and cleaners are maybe one of those items I might buy and then stop using too..... Perhaps I’ll compromise with myself and get the smaller, hand-sized one then .....

I've had two of these, different brands and both stopped steaming, the water didn't get hot enough after a few uses and just left dribbles of warm water everywhere.
I'd still like to get a reliable efficient one so may look at the Karcher.

What make was that one jingl and another poster bought for £19 from Asda recently? Is it any good?

DON`T buy the Polti Evolution! It`s flipping rubbish. We`ve only had it out twice in 9 months, and still haven`t cleaned anything properly with it. The steam runs out after 5 minutes, and it`s several hours before the cap can be removed in order to refill with water, so, like I said, rubbish!!

I was sitting in my friends cafe a couple of weeks ago, and the man sitting next to me announced he had been buying his Wifes' bithday gift.
We asked him what nice gift he had bought, it was a significant birthday.

A steam cleaner for her bathroom,,,,, my friend and I were speechless.

After a little chat he went to the Jeweller round the corner and bought some very nice earrings.

Penstemmon - I also have a robotic vacuum cleaner, that in my humble opinion is the best gadget in the world!!!

I have one hanging up in my shed going for grabs.
The tiles in my kitchen, bathroom and shower room are the "unsealed " ones quite a rough texture IYKWIM and unsuitable for hot steam mops. It does to a decent job on refreshing the pile on a large wool rug but that is a very occasional job.

I am feeling very deprived! pippa I certainly need to up my game on the cleaning gadget front. I am off to look at Which for recommendations. Will teturn when I have purchased something!

I have Bissell stream cleaner which is a hoover as well as we have mainly tiled floors in Cyprus, but it does the rugs as well. I also have a Black and Decker hand held stream cleaner for the kitchen and bathroom, would not be without either. The Karcher window cleaner is a miracle

I've got one of those five in one h2o steam mops. It was bought for me by my DH. I rarely use the thing. It doesn't do what it promises for carpets, and quite frankly, I prefer the mop and bucket for the hard floors and the kitchen link.

You can't beat the Karcher.
