Smoking oven

I had an oven which was either fan or conventional and I really liked it; cakes baked much better without the fan on.
However, it blew up (within the guarantee) and I was offered a fan oven in exchange as they did not make the dual version any more.

I just have a knob for each burner and oven, two buttons, one for the ingnition and the other for the oven light and the clock.

My "dashboard" (like it) has two knobs one for temp and one with 7 settings on, 6 of which I've never used including 3 with fan symbols

I do not think I have a choice over turning the fan off on my oven. I must get the handbook out and study it. There are certainly no knobs on the dashboard that might turn it off.

Just a reminder here, that I read on a thread somewhere, that if you put a pan of water in the oven after cooking, it aids with the cleaning, and it does work really well, nothing to do with smoking ovens of course, which mine does and it is new, and if you put a pan of water in the oven to start off, you will get steam rather than smoke - or at least, I do, which helps keep the oven clean.

Not using the fan doesn't help. I've never used it on mine.

I have 3 integrated fan ovens in 3 different houses, and no problems.
However, my friend has this smoke problem and hasn't been able to sort it.

Today I discovered a pool of grease in the bottom of the oven, which wasn't there to start with. I can only assume this collects from the spitting and drops to the bottom. Roasting bags and covered roasters are OK, but no,good for crispy pork crackling.

I might try switching off the fan to see if it stops the smoke belching out when door is opened.

As usual good to be able to tell the other half he's not the only one suffering...poor man...what I wouldnt do to have a roast dinner put down in front of me!!!

Do you have a fan assisted oven? I bought a cooker with a fan assisted oven and if I open the oven door when the oven is turned on I get a blast of overheated air in my face - and frequently smoke, no matter what I am cooking.

If I ever need to buy another new oven it will not be fan assisted.

It is a fan oven. Our third!

That only happens to me when I accidentally put the grill function on by accident my oven is a Bosch double fan oven .

I'm very pleased to hear it's not just our oven that does this.
I have to have the extractor on and the back door open. When I do open the oven door (drop down) I always stand to one side.

My oven is New World and electric - I have never had that problem.

This happens to me all the time. It sets my smoke alarm off its only since I've had a built in oven. When I had a free standing sort it never happened.

and that greasy smoke spoils walls, curtains etc etc so it's horrible. I use roasting bags where possible but you can't put ever ything in them. I don't know what the answer is.
