Yellowing wool blanket

I thought it was a good blanket day today and put in a double blanket with fairy wash tablets. It had been stored but is still yellowy after washing along the fold. Has anyone any ideas or is life too short to worry about this? New pure wool blankets are silly prices so I won't be buying again.

Wiil it matter as long s its clean - you don't really look at the blanket once your in bed - will it have a coverlet or counterpane over it?

I just like perfection. At least you answered Teetime . I'm fed up wit the panic on the other threads. My world is still turning and the sky hasn't fallen in but my blankets have to smell sweet and look fluffy.

WhenI did use blankets, many years ago I did enjoy washing them in the spring and packing the surplus ones away. They were always so fresh and clean. I never had a problem with yellowing but if they smell good I would not worry.

Thanks Annsixty. DH has a horror of duvets . I blame his turbulent childhood. He likes to be well tucked in.

Me too letsvtalk about blankets and duvets. I love a nice blanket but they are so pricey now and I dont know why. I used to buy the holey ones.

Could you dye it, Stansgran? That would probably mask the yellow streak(s) of the fold(s) There are different dyes for different fibres.

DD has rejected a lifetime of duvets in favour of linen sheets, wool blankets, eiderdown and quilt.

She buys her wool blankets (she will have nothing else) mainly secondhand from charity shops and ebay. She has rarely paid more than £10 for one.

I was looking at John Lewis wool blankets in a super king size( to keep DH well tucked in) but came over all faint at the prices. That's why I went through the old ones
