Reading glasses reveal a lot when you don't wear them to read..

I have of late , for no good reason, adopted a resolution which goes like this:
If I see it I have to do something about it.

So like you Tanith I am obliged to clean splashes, cobwebs etc immediately if I see them and I hope that eventfully this will lead to a less manky house.
Thanks for the tip though. I will keep the reading glasses out of the kitchen. ?

Oh tanith I know exactly what you mean. Went to get some new reading glasses last week and tried them when I had picked them up and got home. I had quite a shock when I looked round, so have been going round having rather a good clean Memo to self, do not wear your reading glasses round the house as you -definitely- may see something that will need cleaning. Stick to the needlework that you got them for.

This puzzles me, I can't see far enough with my reading glasses on to notice cobwebs etc. If I look up from my phone now everything is in soft focus.

nina I wouldn't be able to see cobwebs etc or anything at a distance but with my reading glasses on I realised that close up when putting stuff in the dishwasher I could see all the very grubby bits that I missed when cleaning without glasses on.. try it you will see what I mean unless of course you are a better cleaner than me

Yes. I clean kitchen and bathroom quite often without putting on my varifocals.
Then when I do put them on, I realise it was a wasted exercise!
Especially In the bathroom where I sometimes spot a tiny dark curly hair obviously dropped by a passing 'Fairy'

Top Tip - Always look in the mirror without your specs on.

Eldest son is a bit OCD, and reminds me when they come to visit "for goodness sake put your glasses on Mum!"
Mainly when washing up. He's more forgiving on other things.
He won't even allow me to do the washingup at their house.

But if the washing up water is nice and hot my glasses steam up.

I used to wonder why my parents in law's washing up was so dreadful until I finally realised that they never put their reading glasses on to do it. Love my dishwasher!

I recently had a youngster staying with me and she frequently got out her special cloth and cleaned her glasses. I'm guessing she thought it was her glasses and not my house that needed a good clean

DS2 was fussy enough before he got his glasses. Goodness knows what he'll be like now he has them.
