Many thanks - I'll pass on the good news to the person concerned!

I was helping a friend with this yesterday, and yes, NI contributions are irrelevant.
The savings ceiling is £10,000.

And if you have a reasonable amount of savings, you won't be entitled to it!

You can't claim it until you reach a woman's state pension age (even if a man) The Age UK site gives all the conditions. I don't think NI contributions are relevant.

Hi

A friend of mine, who is aged 63, has been told that he is now entitled to Pension Credit. Unfortunately, he was also told by someone at his local Job Centre that he might have to wait for another two years before he can claim it. This is because he has a shortful in his National Insurance contributions (Class 1). This is news to me, although I am aware that government policy may have changed with regards to the above matter. Be this as it may, I have tried to google around for an answer - and not unexpectedly received a lot of conflicting advice. Therefore any 'real' advice based on the facts as they currently exist would be extremely welcome. Many thanks.
