Dunhelm Mill - great choice and very good price.

I used to buy my towels from there. They were such good quality for the money. Don't know where I'm going to buy them now. Will need a second mortgage to get the same quality elsewhere. I have to buy 8 bath sheets and 4 bath towels per time. My last lot of white cotton bedding was from Next. Lovely feel to the cotton, washes well (without creases, tumble then fold, so no ironing) and hasn't yet discoloured even though I've had the two sets (always buy two, so I don't have to launder and put back on on the same day) for ages. Probably 3 years. No buttons have fallen off. For my boys, who all have double beds (have to replace their bedding once a year as they get a bit smelly after a while, even after washing!) I buy from Matalan. I've just ordered some which should be delivered today, but for the first time was a little disappointed with their choice of patterns. But they do wash well and don't need to be ironed either.

Sorry, re towels, I used to buy from BHS.

Gosh we have had a lot of our bedding for years including my sons.I find it washes clean and especially after blowing on the line. Usually get it from M and S but have one BHS one from years ago.

I bought really nice cotton bedding from sainsbury's.

I doubt if I will have to replace anything for years but I would also go to Dunelm Mill, especially as I have one fairly close to me. They have a very good selection and their prices are good.

mumofmadboys I do use my line but also have 2 washing machines and two tumble driers. As in the winter, or 'this' summer! I just have too much to line dry (8 people, 2 lots of dog bedding). Re the 'stinky boys'. They are all in their twenties now but still have quite oily musky skins. It just seems to get into the cotton after a while. And you can't boil wash duvet sets these days. So I buy inexpensive ones and replace them when I get to the point where I am folding them and think 'mmm, getting a bit whiffy'. I use bio detergent and fabric conditioner but just seems to get into the material somehow. I've even tried Zoflora (a disinfectant one of my ex mother in laws used to swear by) made no difference.

I wait for the Fenwick sale. Wonderful pure cotton bargains. I've just come back from a holiday cottage where the towels were from George at Asda. Very skimpy. Definitely wouldn't bother with them. BHS were ok but the hems were chunky.

I think you must have higher standards than me Breeze! You have a big household if you are looking after eight! Do you cook for them all? I have five sons now all in their twenties but they come and go.

mumofmadboys Gosh no. Not higher standards I'm sure. I have 2 large, often muddy dogs! I have 3 'boomerang' sons. However, one had 2 children (my gorgeous granddaughters) but his relationship broke up and they live here at weekends. My son's girlfriend stays here at weekends (and some week nights) too, which is a godsend, as she's great with the girls leaving me free to spitroast an entire pig! or attempt to stir several giant pots on the stove! So I have 1 kingsize bed (mine! hee hee!) a double (my OH) in his own room. 3 more doubles (the stinky boys) and 2 single bunks. All the towels. All the laundry (apart from girlfriend). So I really do need the 2 washing machines and driers. Especially when the girls were babies and we had so many baby clothes to launder. When I'm having my 'wobbly' moments (picturing myself attacking them all with my rolling pin!) I do try to focus on the fact that one day, they'll all be gone (as my OH says 'Will they' in a weak voice!) and then I'll miss them all dreadfully! Until then, keep buying the sheets and towels I guess.

stansgran ooh Fenwicks. I had my first 'proper and grown up salad' in there when I was working nearby as a youngster. In the basement cafeteria. Not sure if it's still there. Up until then, I thought it was just lettuce, cucumber, tomato and a spring onion!

Dunelm mill fans I've bought some things there before, but never sheets. Do they need ironing? Or are they tumble and shake? Such good value in there, may get some there next time if you answer they launder easily.

Got my last lot from Tesco, good quality, lots of choice of patterns etc, and duvet sets to fit every size of bed. I'll go there again.

All the bedding we have has come from Dunelm Mills. I'm a great fan! I only buy 100% cotton, can't bear the feel of poly/cotton next to my skin, and I don't iron it. I take it out of the washer immediately the programme finishes and peg out (on a good day - on a bad day it is folded carefully and hung over a clothes horse to dry). That way it really doesn't need ironing.
I have generally been very pleased with the quality, although I was disappointed to find a 6" section of seam had come apart on one of the duvet covers recently . Must remember to get it to the sewing machine next time it's washed and dried!

Thanks Indi I will try there next time. Too late this time, as already ordered from Matalan but wasn't overly keen on the patterns this shop. Having said that, I don't know why it matters as they're usually lying on the floor or screwed up in a ball on their beds! I bought them some throws last time. One's gone missing (suspect it was taken camping) one was stuffed in a drawer and the other stuffed in a corner when I went in their rooms to 'inspect'.

I have bought bedding from M&S (I get fed up with it before it wears out), Debenhams and quite often from TK Maxx, but in there you can't go looking for a specific colour - if you see something, you have to buy it, the makes are usually very good.
They sell good towels such as Christie too.

John Lewis bedding and towels are good quality as well.
I bought some very good quality towels from Sainsburys.

I have bought towels from Primark and been very pleased with them. I also bought a white cotton double fitted sheet from there and it is excellent.

I bought some in Debenhams sale once, half price and thought they were a good bargain as they had been very expensive.

Very disappointing and very thin - if you can feel them before buying it might be a good idea!

We're having 5 of the family to stay soon and have just been checking all the quilts and pillows. The pillows are yuk!, and we haven't enough summer quilts, plenty of winter ones, so husband has ordered some on line from ebay. I think 2 single quilts were £20 and 8 pillows for £30.
