Unwelcome visitors of the rodent variety

While I'm in the UK (child minding for the school hols).I've let friends use my house. We were used to hearing the odd large rodent (edible dormice for one ..not that I would eat one!)as the house is oldn and once under the floorboards you're onto earth. They are reporting rats the size of cats.... a mild exaggeration I suspect. DOH always dealt with them with poison ...and the consequential corpses but as pathetic 'singleton' now I'm looking into sonic devices, just to tell them tbey're not really welcome chez moi!
Have any of you on GN used them.... i.e. are they any good?

Yes and they laugh at me!! ( mice ! )

Although I have a cat, she brought in mice for a tasty supper but ignored the indoor variety. Once I bought a sonic device I have not seen a mouse since. I have no idea what they do re rats but mine works a treat on the mice.

If it's really rats and not mice, I'd call in a pest controller to do a proper job in getting rid of them.

Yes, if it's rats you need pest control. Our local council operates a free service for rats, well not a public service for the rats you understand, it's a public service to ensure the end of the rats in your home or garden.

Thanks for the pest control advice... which I knew about, but I'm normally in rural (and I mean rural) France where wild life including adders are part of life. I just was asking if anyone had experience of keeping them out with a sonic device. I guess if your sonic gizmo worked with mice Charleygirl it would work with rats, and all the other fluffy little things that are sent to plague us. Think I'll give it a try.

Have a look on line at Amazon. You will see the reviews and also get a bargain. I bought an up market one for half the price. I am not certain if it scares off rats or not. Mine is plugged in the kitchen but the blurb said that it covers the entire house, upstairs also.
