Thanks, there are some currently reduced in Robert Dyas - I like the idea of a cordless! Will investigate further.

I bought an excellent one from Lidl (cordless, changed my life) smile for 14.99 some years ago. Don't know what I'll do when it packs up.

I tend to go for the one that was v expensive, but now is dramatically reduced, in Currys!
They all seem to have a life of about 5 years!

Try tefal and make sure you look for the highest wattage.

The steam on my iron has packed up so I decided to look for a new one. I don't need one of the fancy ones with the huge water containers - just something that steams when I want it to. I have looked at several and the instructions drive me mad - with little diagrams with ticks and crosses for OK and not OK - a bit like looking at one of those competitions for " spot the difference". Makes choice difficult. Any recommendations on a reasonably priced iron - preferably with written instructions?!
