My Mum does in the winter, but her sight isn't brilliant

I use a daylight lamp cost about £50 it is brilliant for reading, crafts, computer work etc and the bright light cheers me up on a dull day. I bought it from a National paper.

I have a standard lamp, the top is an uplighter and a halogen reading light is on a stalk that can be positioned over the shoulder. I find this light brilliant as we just have table lamps on at night rather than the big light.

I keep seeing a certain type of reading light advertised, and could really do with one, but they only come in black and I don't like anything black in my sitting room, certainly not at that price.
Must go hunting for another version in antique bronze or similar.

Yes, pricey but the light is excellent . DH 's eyesight is giving him some problems and our optometrist who is also a friend recommended these lights. She also gave us a voucher to save on the VAT

What are these "standard reading lights" ? I didn't know there was such a thing.
My chair is next to the patio doors so I have plenty of natural light. There is also a standard lamp behind H's and my chairs.

Oh we were looking at those lights a week or two ago, very expensive but they do look fantastic, good to hear from someone who has actually tried one. I seem to recall that they had a good length of guarantee too. I will tell Hubby as I think he also would be able to clain the VAT back. We recently bought a revitive machine and he was able to do so on that. By the way Daphne how did MY Bureau get to be in the corner of your room?

I gave got the same bureau too inherited from my parents!

I have a daylight lamp for sewing and temari-making. MrBags got some for when he was doing oil painting in some old master tradition.

i bought a l.e.d lamp from lidl for my DF, it was only £12 and he loves it, he can read in his armchair without any shadow falling onto the page. Really was a bargain.

Got a white daylight lamp from Amazon , it was about £49, has a magnifying glass that you can swivel round if you are doing very close work.
