No.

But doesn't the paint come off in flakes?

I always paint my radiators in whatever paint is going. I never get an "odour".

Get a small sample pot of metallic paint (any kind), paint a small area and wait and see?

Maxwells Silver Hammer ( bang bang, Maxwells silver hammer went down upon her head, bang bang Maxwells silver hammer made sure that she was dead!) A very bizarre Beatles song, wasn't it.
I used that silver hammered paint on a metal rocking horse bags it looked great!
Steam punk is dressing in Victorian clothes, and books and so on set in Victorian era but about animatronic gadgets etc.We saw a young woman and her boyfriend dressed like this in London( at first you think you're seeing ghosts.)

Never heard of Steam Punk. Well, not the steam bit.

Got an email from the Hammerlite people and they said yes, it'll be fine. I'm going to enjoy MrB's reaction; he's probably expecting white. Chuckle McChuckle.

(sorry, might be a bit before your time, thatbags)

Didn't Maxwell have one on the Abbey Road LP? grin

Silver Hammer finish sounds a bit Steam Punk

I mean the small patch thing first!

thatbags Thu 20-Oct-16 20:19:43

Thank you, peeps! I will do the small patch first thing.

MrBags doesn't realise I'm going for silver so I'll report back on his reaction too smile

Yes outdoor Hammerite is designed to go directly onto bare metal, it may well react with whatever is already on there.

aggie Thu 20-Oct-16 17:11:22

might have an "odour" ? when it is heating up ?

petra Thu 20-Oct-16 17:08:18

bags funny enough I have painted 3 radiators to day. You can use hammerite, your only 'could be' problem is the hammerite reacting with whatever is on there. Try a small patch.

thatbags Thu 20-Oct-16 13:26:30

Thanks, wob, good idea.

Wobblybits Thu 20-Oct-16 13:19:57

I suggest you contact Hammerite directly explaining why you want to use that particular finish.

Which is boring. Especially as there is a lot of wood work around the window under which the radiator is situated (old house, thick walls, shutter flaps) and I've painted the woodwork white because the wall is terracotta.

thatbags Thu 20-Oct-16 12:49:20

Because I want a hammered silver effect. Most radiator paints seem to be white.

Wobblybits Thu 20-Oct-16 12:41:44

Why do you want to use that product ?. Hammerite make paints specifically for radiators.

thatbags Thu 20-Oct-16 12:33:34

bump

thatbags Thu 20-Oct-16 09:58:30

Can I use Hammerite outdoor metal paint on indoor radiators?
