Have you ever had a microwave repaired?

I have had three microwave ovens and the first two lasted a very long time but the third one was only purchased when we moved two years ago and has started making weird noises as if some old china is being crashed together. I was wondering if it is safe to even repair microwave ovens and if anyone has ever had one repaired.

I mentioned my microwave noises to my DD and she told me that her last two microwave ovens have each lasted almost precisely two years. DDIL has said the same thing and that she thinks there is a set time for how long these items last and possibly with a fitted timing device! We all laughed but it does seem a bit too much of a coincidence. hmm

They are so cheap these days that I wouldn't bother with repairs. Mine is years old and was Asda's cheapest with clockwork dial rather than digital display.

Thank you for the link shysal I had no idea that they are so cheap as the new microwave was just part of the new kitchen. The others I have had in the past were quite expensive but lasted for years and years so I didn't mind but was disgusted when this one seemed to be going down the swanny. The cost of the ovens on your link is less than the callout fee would be for the repairer people! smile

I would agree with Shysal, most Microwaives are so cheap that it wouldn't be worth having them repaired.

Personally I would not have one in the house, dreadful things I think.
