Loo paper - Again

I have not seen Nicky on sale around my area and I do look for new products. I'll have to check stores not normally visited to see if I can find a stock of the Elite variety - if you all say it's wonderful for your nether regions, it must be!

I tried Cushelle some years ago and found it useless - it just disintegrated.

Our current 'favourites' are Superdrug's quilted 3-ply (very reasonable price - I think it's £2.00 for nine rolls) and Aldi's 3-ply somethingorother (not helpful, I know. Once bought, I take the wrapping off and store in a cupboard so can't remember the name of the product).

My loo paper story is from the 1970's, when visiting Spain (or Italy - can't remember... hmmmm). Anyway, on entering the loo, one was handed two sheets of paper by an attendant. Two sheets! They must have smaller nethers in Spain/Italy!

I got a refund from Superdrug under their Happiness guarantee - told em it was like using glass paper!

No mention here so far of recycled paper. It always seems totally nuts to me that we use virgin paper and even print patterns on it, for something that has a very simple function. Like, we really have three planets to use up?

Other cultures are disgusted at our use of paper, they wash themselves. You may find hoses in the toilet to do this when visiting non-western homes. Seems a better idea where supply of water is OK.

I buy from Lidl. They have different varieties but all ok and cheap.

The best one that I have found is from Iceland. It has got a Which recommendation and I find it is both soft and strong. Reasonable price too.

Andrex only for me, only one I can trust to not upset my delicate skin, I'm allergic to many products.

I'm so old that I remember the torn up newspaper that we used in the war, - and afterwards for a few years. It makes my choice of Cushelle these days seem incredibly luxurious.

Polished bottoms?

Never heard of Nicky.We buy Sainsburys own brand, seems fine, does the job.
The very thick quilted sort can cause blockages in the pipes and the outside sewer pipes ( neighbours had problems) as it doesn't dissolve well, in fact hardly at all.
DH always has to have huge amounts of toilet rolls in the cupbard ( I mean, why?) he buys the same amount of kitchen rolls too.

Don't they get damp in the garage, nannypiano?

I have never heard of Nicky loo paper. I buy M&S loo paper for the downstairs cloakroom because it looks and feels very classy. For the upstairs bathrooms I buy whatever is on offer in Waitrose. I also use Andrex washlets (to polish) but probably shouldn't flush them down the loo. DH uses soap, hot water and a special flannel for polishing. We both have very clean bottoms!

I buy 60 rolls at a time online, SO CHEAP!! Then store in garage until needed, but never run out and don't have to carry them home. I buy whatever type is cheap and the greatest bargain.

They are definitely fluffier now, leaving a fine layer over everything in sight. I tend to get B&M now as they are much cheaper and a lot less fluffy. Never heard of Nicky though.

Always bought Cushelle but have now stopped as I do not think they are the same quality as when first appearing on the market ie starting on a new roll and the layers part one sticking leaving you with too thin remains. you can waste a hell of a lot before you get a useable piece.
Now buy Aldi 18 rolls for half the price of Cushelle
No complaints.

I'm with rascal, only ever use Andrex Aloe Vera.

The man who unblocked out drains once, told me that 'Cushelle' was the drain rodders best friend.............

Wish I could have this problem...hahaha I will be living on a narrow boat from May. Loo paper will have to be single ply and I will have to empty the cassette (box of waste) every week. Wheel it in a barrow to disposal point. Single ply doesn't clog the cassette...no choice!

Nicky for us too

I have to be very careful with toilet paper as my downstairs loo is a saniflo so I only use 2 ply paper. When my darling gc are here, I tell them to go upstairs if they want a poo!!!

I found some Nicky Elite on Ebay, much cheaper than the Andrex quilts. Ordered 24 rolls, but they have larger quantities for the future to save on delivery road miles if I like it! I can't find a local shop who sells it.

I use Andrex, bought in bulk from Costco. I always used to buy Cushelle from Lidl when it was on special offer. How did we ever manage with Izal or Bronco?

I said I would update re the Superdrug variety....well, if you want to sand-paper your delicates!!! Back to Cushelle, that was my last experiment.....I can't sit down oooo.

Andrex as a rule - stocked up when it's on offer. It seems to to be getting 'fluffier' though so I suspect there are fewer sheets per roll.

I have used M&S toilet rolls and kitchen rolls for years and been very happy with both. Particularly like their seasonal designs at Christmas. Never heard of Nicky but then I don't look elsewhere for toilet rolls.
