cleaning tarnished EPNS

I have bought some very pretty cake forks from Ebay but they are quite badly tarnished - well, either that or they have been worn by too much cleaning in the past.
I have tried dipping in "Silver Dip" & I think they actually look worse
Any ideas please? I have seen various things on the internet about soaking EPNS with silver foil

line a roasting tray with tinfoil, pour in water just off the boil and add salt ..a couple of handfulls.Put your cake forks in and make sure they are covered by the fluid and leave until it goes cold. They should shine up really well. You can repeat until you get the result you're looking for

I don't know about EPNS but I've had success cleaning my silver jewelry with toothpaste. You just rub it on and then clean and buff it off with a soft dry cloth. It comes up sparkly and beautiful.

I've cleaned copper and silver with tomato sauce following a tip on here.
