One thing about the Dyson cordless - the filter needs a really good rinse quite often, even if it looks fairly clean, or the thing won't work properly - and it takes 24 hours to dry.
I bought one for dd as well as my own, and we've both bought spare filters (you can order online) so that it's not out of action just when you need it.
Dyson, you should provide a spare as standard!
