Steam Mop Recommendation

Hi rensell, I too used to get on my hands and knees to clean my big kitchen floor. However these days are long gone and now have a Shark Steam Cleaner, it's great, never looked back I just love it. Easy to use, quick too, no streak marks as have brown glossy floor tiles so you see EVERYTHING. Have look and see what you think.

I'm using O-Cedar Microfiber Cloth Mop, and this mop has proven very good, actually. I'm very satisfied. The best thing about this mop is that has a very sturdy handle and has a machine washable microfiber head, which is very practical in my opinion. We got a steam mop in Aldi last year. I haven't ysed it but my dh really likes it and it doesnt leave any marks like the old mop and bucket did. So £30 well spent.

I do have one, but much prefer a good old mop and bucket. I have laminate in my hall, and a wooden staircase and never liked using it on those.

I've resurrected this thread because despite buying a bona mop which I use frequently on my laminate floors I'm struggling with cleaning the bottom of the sliding doors on our quadrant shower cubicle. The groove it fits into is always grimy and I can no longer get down on my hands and knees.

I'm about to buy a steam mop with an attachment that will hopefully deal with all the nooks and crannies in the bathroom as well as a more lasting clean of the kitchen floor.

Usually buy solution from Amazon but it is now stocked in B&Q.

I like my steam mop. I am on my second. I don’t think it is worth getting an expensive one because I think they all get clogged up eventually. The one I have now has a triangular head which I really like. I like them because my ceramic floor dries almost immediately and I don’t have to use any chemicals around the cat.

I've got a Lakeland steam mop and it's fine.

and a large bowl to wash the dogs' paws off!

I find a spin mop and bucket best then go over it with an old towel (not hands and knees, rather I 'walk' it round).

What is best for laminate floors. A spin mop and bucket or a Bona spray mop?

Well I am very glad that I read this thread - I was seriously thinking of getting a steam cleaner but have decided to stay with my mop and bucket. Maybe I'll treat myself to a new mop instead

I am glad to read about the germs, no need to get the steam mop going then (perhaps before Christmas?).

I think steam mops are just there to prey on people's insecurities about germs. We should be building up our immune systems with a bit of grime.
Seems to me it's the multinationals getting greedier and greedier.

I have used mine on laminate floors but the floors are best their best and probably need replacing anyway.

Mine has still not done much for the grouting between the floor tiles in the kitchen either and I find the handheld bit too heavy to do the shower.

Don't mean to sound negative but at the moment the steam mop is languishing in a corner collecting dust.

They aren't a good idea on karndean, wood or laminate. However, they are brilliant at cleaning stubborn grime on showers and grouts. They are also wonderful on the clean the oven or defrost the fridge front.
For the various stone, wood, laminate, karndean flooring I use a bucket and mop (plus some fancy product said to be best for each area - who knew I'd turn into someone with the time to even think about such things)

Personally, I don't like them . I have one and I don't use it now.

I have a dirt devil one but although easy to use,it does not reach all the corners.

I have a Vileda one which I'm very pleased with - it's got a triangular head so gets into all the corners. The one I replaced leaked a lot but this one is much better. The only drawback is I have polished ceramic floor tiles so I still have to go over them with a fluffy mop to dry them off completely.

I cannot kneel to scrub my floor now, I found the mop and bucket left my tiled floors very wet. I use the Vax steam cleaner, it does a really good job but can be a bit unwieldy in tight corners.

I've been thinking of buying a steam mop. I have a stone floor in my kitchen and I'm confident using it there, but have Amtico and Karndean in other rooms and I'm not sure if it's safe to use one on those floors. Anyone have any advice ?
