ceramic frying pans

Mine soon lost its non-stick, despite not putting it in the dishwasher etc. I replaced it with a much cheaper standard frying pan from Asda - had it many months now and it's still perfectly non stick.
I'd never bother with a 'fancy' frying pan again.

Yes, we too have one, but it does not work on the induction. It is a non-stick pan that can be used for all purpose.

I bought a Scandinavian one and it was supposed to be induction compatible, but in fact, it will only work on one of the back rings, which is not very practical. For that reason I don’t use it very much. It seems to take a while to heat up, but it is non stick. It was one of those things that seemed like a good idea at the time!

We have one from Tesco which has become a bit stained. I'm quite happy with it, but DH, who does most of the cooking, doesn't - I'm not sure why, actually. I think he prefers to use higher temperatures than I do!

Welshwife the one I was looking at works on induction but some don't so you'd need to check.

I have a ceramic frying pan and small saucepan for my porridge. Both were from TK Maxx and do what it says on the label. For frying I use a spritz of spray oil, not sure that a dry pan would be completely non-stick. I don't use metal tools with them so they are as good a new several years later.

I bought one from Sainsbury's a few years ago, but was a bit disappointed to find it wasn't really non-stick. However it is quite easy to clean. I wanted a pan just for frying eggs, and found a good non-stick pan in TKMaxx.

Would they work on an induction job?

My sister got one for my mother and she loves the way the food looks so appetising on the white background. When I was last there, I noticed that it was rather uneven and probably not cooking evenly on her ceramic hob, but it is still a joy to clean.

Brilliant - if you buy a decent one! I bought an unknown brand one and it was awful. I then bought a Prestige one and a small Viners and they’re both great.

Make sure that you don’t let it get too hot, they need a much lower temperature than ‘normal’ pans. I cooked pancakes yesterday without using any oil or fat and they came out of the pan easily.

I bought one from an online company which was rubbish <whisper Coopers>. I then bought one from John Lewis (their own brand) have had it for around 2 years and it is brilliant, cleans very easily - I was so pleased with it that I bought a smaller one for omelettes! I use a little cooking spray and I don't have to leave the pan to soak!
