I'm finding it hard to find good quality bath mats. The ones I really like are £65 for the mat and £45 for the pedestal mat. Will have to save very hard for these but will only want to look at but not use at that price. Anyone got any ideas for me to find good quality but cheaper mats. Thanks.

I've got a waffle mat - it's like a runner - that I've had for some years. I think I bought it from The White Company and it's very absorbent and washes well after all this time. I'd certainly get another when this one bites the dust. I also have the 'standard' bath mat - cheap and cheerful and lightweight from ASDA [I think]. Perfectly adequate. They wash well and do the job. I've had those for a few years too!!

Have you looked at the supermarket ones? Asda and Tesco must do some

I buy bath mats from ikea for £5. They dry quickly on a radiator after use and wash well along with the towels. If they start to look a bit shabby I just go and buy new ones. I have 4 on the go at once. 2 for me and 2 for hubby. It works well and we both have a nice dry mat to stand on every day.

Morning all! I absolutely swear by my cork bath/shower mat. Warm, absorbent and grippy to step on to. Wouldn't change it for anything.

I had to change my bathmats as they were rubber backed and so heavy when wet that they wrecked my washing machine. I found a couple of really classy, thick ribbed cotton ones for £6 each in a knocky-downy kitchenware shop in Sidmouth. Not much help but it shows they can be found.

I have an expensive bathmat that I paid £15 in the sales. I usually buy at House of Fraser or White Company, good quality but I do stick to the sales!

I spent a lot on 2 huge bath mats to go under the sink to avoid all the mess DH makes! Have had them 12 years & now looking shabby but can't find similar sized mats anywhere.
I shouldn't have chosen black granite tiles for the floor! I don't use mats around the loo. Yuk!

SillyNanny321 Sat 27-Jan-18 10:27:01

Gave up on bath mats when my silly ginger cat thought he had a new litter tray!

We have memory foam bath mats which were only about £5. They were from B&M or Home Bargains. Ours are white so are washed very often and are still nice and white. I don’t have a mat or a seat cover for the loo.

Another vote here for John Lewis bathroom mats. Bought ours years ago (felt quite pricey at the time as had only bought cheap ones prior to this) and they've been excellent. They're the "multi stripe" ones, which look cheery and bright.

i bought my last bathmat from tesco direct after browsing everywhere for one.
i wanted black to match the black towels also bought from them.
i can't remember the price now but it can't have been too expensive as i wouldn't pay out on a costly one!
no problems with black - all female house.

Wilkinsons have some very nice ones, reasonably priced from about £8 a set
I put the pedestal one round the washbasin,

I love the Ikea mats too. Good value and they last well

I did buy an expensive JL bathmat. Yes it was probably about £65....but it has two usable sides to it, one bobbly and one smooth pile. It matches my lovely towels. On returning home I justified the price by explaining that I had really only bought 2 bath mats at £30 each!

When our bathroom was being renovated 3years ago, I bought a beautiful bathmat, in a sale, for £5.00. I dutifully waited to use it, then in due course, washed it. It nearly killed my washing machine, so I wasn't best pleased. The engineer came to fix it, and all that had happened was the fluff from the mat had clogged the filter, so the machine couldn't drain. Memo to self, do not buy very fluffy bath mats ever again.

I bought mine recently in m&s very easy to wash and dry yet feel thick and bouncy

In a carpeted bathroom, pedestal mats are essential.

Try Christy on line, their £10-£20 range have pink, blush or raspberry.
The quality is excellent.
I’m inclined to agree that the loo mat is less than hygienic but I can see the practicalities for special cases

Ikea have pink bathmats: voksjön (or something like that ) at £3.50,

I solved this by making one myself. I adapted a cheap very lightweight bath mat which I bought many years ago in France (from their equivalent of Wilko's). I covered it with some cut up old tee-shirts into oblongs and sewed them together, then bound it. It seems to work pretty well.

Next have some bobbly ones in lots of different colours. We use two in the bathrooms but no pedestal mat. They are light, wash well and don't slip.

Dunelm have some lovely ones as do The White Company both which you can order online

I bought mine in Waitrose in the sale, less than a tenner each. Hate mats around the toilet though I do see the need to keep your feet warm iflike me you have tiles and tend to wander around the house barefooted. As my bathroom is small I usually sit on the loo and stretch my legs out and move the bath mat a bit nearer so I can keep my feet warm. I know, slippers are the answer!

Culag Sat 27-Jan-18 09:01:52

I agree mumofmadboys. I can’t remember when I last washed mine but then there are no males in the house smile. And I cannot be bothered to put slippers on in the middle of the night.

I am impressed by all those who wash their bath mats so often! Must wash mine today!!
