Another thread made mention of the ' juggernaut of consumerism' and that we are 'the make do and mend' generation so I just wanted to flag up that actually lots of younger people are beginning to turn away from being a 'throw away' society. You may not have heard of it, but there is a quiet revolution underway; people are beginning to repair rather than replace broken items.
