cleaning the toilet

Having learn don the Cleaning course I went on....it seems bleach eventually pits your toilet, that why after so many yrs the limescale sticks to it because of the pitting and is more difficult to remove...

I’ve been looking at toilet brushes recently because the ones I have aren’t fit for purpose. They , like mamacaz’s are the wrong shape.
There are some new curved paddle shaped ones in JLewis, I am wondering if to try one but at the moment am using a washing up brush and a rubber glove. Easy to use and easier to keep them clean.
I don’t use neat bleach but use a toilet cleaning product every few days. I’m not as clean as a lot of you but we are a very healthy bunch. Don’t know if that has anything to do with anything!

JackyB Bleach is chlorine.

"If bleach is mixed with ammonia". I thought bleach was ammonia.

MamaCaz Amazon have them if you are not near somewhere selling caravan accessories.

This really works so am really glad I don’t drink the stuff - buy a litre bottle of cheap Coca Cola , pour in the loo and leave overnight! ?

PS, I only use bleach if it's necessary, it's not very environmentally friendly.

Good scrub with a toilet brush round the bowl and under the rim. I use a spray cleaner, then put the blue stuff round under the rim. Wash the outside, seat, lid etc with bathroom spray and a good cloth.

If you have septic tank, and not mains drainage, do NOT use bleach!

Mr muscle on a sponge scrubber kept for the purpose, then an antiseptic wipe and parazone every night which keeps the bowl sparkling with no need to scrub anything. I haven’t owned a toilet brush in many years.

Is it just me that finds that modern toilet brushes are the wrong shape or size to clean modern toilets? I've had to start using rubber gloves and stick my hand in the bowl to clean it properly, as none of the brushes I have bought will do the job. They seem too big, and don't make contact everywhere. Of course, the problem might be the smaller size/shape of the toilets!

Elegran, I didn't know about mini toilet brushes, so that might be the answer to my problem.

Using too much bleach kills the bacteria in the sewage works which break down the effluent.

And don't ever use bleach and other toilet cleaners at the same time. If bleach is mixed with ammonia, toxic gases called choloramine are created, which can cause coughing, wheezing, nausea, or watery eyes; or at higher concentrations lead to chest pain, wheezing, or pneumonia. Using it in tandem with certain toilet bowl cleaners, drain cleaners, and even plain old vinegar is no better: the combination of chlorine bleach and acid gives off a toxic chlorine gas that can cause burning eyes and breathing problems in small amounts, and be fatal at high levels.

The Eco ones are very good - combined with a good scrub!

Try to be Eco friendly in most things.

Sorry to say as far as Loos are concerned I'm Queen of the bleach.

Spray bowl with Mr Muscle then a quick scrub with a mini-loobrush (sold in caravan shops, takes up less bathroom space than a full-sized one) Spray round seat and rim with Mr Muscle and wipe with a moist bum-wipe which is then thrown out (not flushed away) I don't even wear rubber gloves as my hand is not in contact with anything nasty.

The washbasin and bath get a spray with Mr Muscle then cleaned with one of those frilly nylon showerpuffs, which do a grand job removing scum on the porcelain and grime around the taps, and rinsed.

I use bleach once or twicea day.

ps as well as Ecover, some supermarkets do their own Eco cleaners.

I have a rim block in the toilet bowl but I put bleach down every night then give a good scrub in the morning with the loo brush ,

I use the eco toilet cleaner and a brush.
