Can you not light it with a match? Even if we have a power cut we can light the gas oven with a match.

Have you tried replacing the battery back up for the ignition?

Mine doesn't have a battery back up but nor does it only ignite when using the timer, the two operate completely independently. Mine is probably about 4-5 years old.

Our old built in gas oven had electric ignition but if there was a power failure, there was a lever to slide which then allowed it to be lit with a match. Have you scoured the manual to be sure you don't have such a device?

Have you had anyone round to have a look at it?
I would get someone round for a free estimate of the job.

I would miss my timer and light use them all the time.

Got a chap coming next week says he will try ans disconnect the broken clock/timer so the oven should light. There is a call out charge, but nobody will come out for nothing! We rarely used the timer anyway. I'm disappointed that New World did not help - they wanted to sell ma a whole new oven. Just because the clock conked out! I hate waste and things going to landfill unnecessarily.

Job done. Clock disconnected and oven works a treat. It is a huge relief because it's built in and the chap said we would have difficulty finding a new oven to fit the space. It would have meant alterations to the kitchen units so I'm very relieved. Whew!

Thank you for letting us know! I agree about waste - when we built our house we chose the ovens very carefully, and expect them to see us out!
It is, I am told, the one 'green' thing about Agas, that otherwise are heavy on fuel- they last forever!
