My DiL was complaining about a smell of cat's pee in her kitchen until I pointed out the pot of basil on the window sill.

Totally agree that black currant juice smells like cat’s wee rubytut. Well remember the pong from those people in the office who drank blackcurrant tea. Foul smelling stuff. Not that that helps you lindiann.

I always leave the doors on the washing machine and tumble drier slightly ajar when not in use.
However, DH does shut them whenever he walks past as it annoys him to see them open.

Cured emptied all the filters, wiped it down sprayed with febreeze air freshener and shut door. Smells lovely now I think it might have been lack of use when it was hot. thanks for your help.

I would wipe down the inside of the tumbler with a solution of lukewarm water and vinegar, then put an open container, or a saucer with a little bicarbonate of soda into the tumbler and close the door firmly. Bicarb. absorbs unpleasant smells in cupboards and fridges, so I assume it works in tumblers.

It is very important to close the door after both treatments, as I read recently that inhaling fumes of a mixture of vinegar and bicarbonate of soda in enclosed spaces kills cats!

How odd, I could smell cats wee in my kitchen tracked it down to a spilt carton of blackcurrant juice, did not realise before how alike the smell is. Not saying you have blackcurrant in your dryer but there are other things that smell the same as cats wee.

Advice from Bosch. Wipe the drum out with a vinegar or lemon cleaning solution. This, they say, will remove bad smells. I don't know if it works, as I've never had to try it.
