Petrol ration books anyone remember them ?

We had petrol coupons during the three day week and so on. All community nurses had to get the petrol from designated petrol stations as I believe (memory hazy) did the emergency services..

I think petrol coupons were handed out during the 1973 oil crisis, but never used.

I just found ours still complete as they were never used. I seem to remember during the Suez crisis ( when I was young ) if you were a learner driver you could drive without asomeone sitting beside you who had passed their test . Is this true ?
It is just the price of petrol now that restricts what we use our car for .
