I’m new to Gransnet. I’m 70 years old and have a dilemma. I’ve recently separated from my 3 rd husband and moved down from Scotland. We’ve sold our property and I have half of the equity, not a lot. I would like to move to the south east to be nearer my two children and their families. Problem is my only income is my state pension, not a lot! What to do? I’ve looked into various options of housing and wonde what your opinions of them are. How about Share to Buy but don’t hold out much hope as my income is so low. Homewise is another option but the percentage you purchase depends on your sex and age and when you “go” they keep the whole property! Another is Heylo, but because of my low income they can only offer help on a property of £65k because of my low income. I’ve applied to the local council but because of the money I hold in the bank they cannot help me either. At the moment I’m renting at £650 a month and with bills I realise this is not sustainable. I’m waking at night and worrying about my future and need some direction. Has anyone a similar experience that can offer some advice? I’ve been looking at working from home to earn a bit of extra income but it’s not easy not having worked for a very long time!
America, three headlines today, help me please to understand!
I am procrastinating and need to stop!
