Flannel beding not soft any more

Just rewashed my flannel not coming out soft,
Over past 2weeks tried everything I know

My new ones were disappointingly unfluffy when I first got them, but after their first wash I hung them out in a breezy day and they came up really soft and fluffy - and smelling of lovely fresh air. ?
