I have recently bought a crystal to hang in my south-facing window. It casts rainbows all over the room and hall when the sun shines and gives me enormous pleasure. What little thing does this for you?

How lovely LornaS!

Yesterday we had extra power sockets fitted in two rooms. No more extension leads everywhere - transformation!

And I have lately discovered faux flowers.

I do like my tulip lamp I bought in Hay-on-Wye last summer.

Thanks Cheebacca - they must come in loads of styles - hence my confusion. Wonder why they aren't just called interior shutters?

Chewbacca Wed 27-Feb-19 20:13:19

NotSpahetti the picture in the link you provided was plantation shutters not the "racist ones though grin

Our Springer Spaniel puppy. He has transformed our furniture into doggy chews, our sofa into his bed and our garden into something resembling a battle field. But we love him to bits and wouldn't be without him.

Crazy prices for the kettle and toaster but I love them. Unfortunately can't justify spending that much.

I’ve just had a look at it on line. At £119 though (ouch) I shall, sadly, have to choose another kettle. ?☹️

Can someone tell me what these shutters are? Are they like the ones that fold into the sides of large Georgian window frames? Or are they like the ones in the “triple doors” of some old Italian properties that have a bar up the side to tilt them? Or maybe they are one of these sorts:

Thanks!

NotSpaghetti Wed 27-Feb-19 09:25:55

Urmstongran it’s a Dualit Classic. I love it!

craftyone Wed 27-Feb-19 09:00:20

chewbacca, yay good to read what you said about plantation shutters. I will be moving in a month or so and have already looked up local installers, seeing your post has given me more confidence. I want off white and tier on tier if possible. I know they will cost but I would need to start from scratch anyway, new build

Re the crystal, I agree about the concentrated rays, only yesterday I moved two pairs of specs from the dining table, the sun was streaming in and I was going out

annep1 Wed 27-Feb-19 06:20:28

Marrmight I like that one.

Marmight Wed 27-Feb-19 04:11:08

A glass head-sized head which I bought for £8 in an antique shop. A woman with a shingle hairstyle. I think it must have been for a thirties shop window. She sits on a deep window ledge, wearing a panama hat. ?

What small thing ? My house, itself ! We downsized from our large family home, we'd had for 30 years, into our 'lock up and leave' much smaller house over 4 years ago and it has completely transformed our day to day lives. Can highly recommend it - we got rid of so much clutter and stuff. We travel more and are much more relaxed.......so sometimes the small things are the big things!

Juliet27 Wed 27-Feb-19 00:16:24

Shysal - I too have a crystal in my south facing window and the rainbows give great pleasure.

Juliet27 Wed 27-Feb-19 00:14:58

The canary that landed next to my husband while he was fishing a few years ago. It had obviously escaped from somewhere but being unable to find the owner we took possession of it. His singing brightens our day and home.
