how to store bins

You are right Auntieflo. Bin men don't lift bins around here they just hook them onto wagon which tips them. Don't take loose stuff. I find storage a problem because we have recycling boxes for bottles, plastic and papers, and no garage.

Unfortunately it is not always the householder’s choice.
If a council supplies wheelie bins, then wheelie bins you have to have, I believe, otherwise your refuse won’t be collected.

Must you have whopping great wheelie bins? I live alone and have bags instead, which fit in my small shed. It would take me weeks to fill a wheelie bin for either household rubbish or recycling.

Our neighbour has one and it blows over when the weather is windy. TBH I think it looks awful.

If you have space enough in your front garden place the bins near the gate and either put up a fence round them on three sides or plant a hedge that grows fast.

Try googling 'Wheelie bin covers'. You will then get shedettes, screening and vinyl adhesive patterns to wrap around the sides to disguise them.

I bought a metal garden storage container because we still use bin bags and I got fed up with the local foxes ripping the bags apart. I put big castors on it so I can move it out of the way of garage if I need to open the garage door. I mostly use the side door for the garage rather than the up and over door. They do sell some attractive wooden housing for wheelie bins but I always think How much? You could make one yourself for half the price. Or buy a small shed for less and store more.

When we moved to the bungalow we had no covered storage for the bins and I hate them being visable from the Road,we got our binstore from Homebase but B&Q do them also easy to errect and look tidy on the front patio.
They hold 2 x standard bins and cost about £80/90s with free delivery.

In one of the free catalogues that come with daily papers I have seen a folding screen that looks like foliage to put around wheelies.

Sorry, I cannot help. I live in a small mews and the only place we have is at our front doors so that is where my 3 large bins are and the small food bin is under a bush at my front door. I could store my bins in my rear garden but I would not be able to wheel them round to the front on bin collection day. It is an eyesore but I have become used to it.
