Rug

A rug I've had for about forty years has suddenly started to turn up at two of its corners. It sits on a wooden floor. Can anyone suggest why this happens and what can I do about it?

I've tried weighting it down for a week at a time and sticking it down with double sided tape, but these two diagonal corners persist in turning up.

I have a long runner in the hall. It sits on hard wood parquet flooring. Between it and the floor is a John Lewis non slip under runner thingy. Absolutely excellent. Sits totally flat.

try and wiggle some curtain weights into the corners

I thoroughly damp the corners of the rug and iron them flat.

Thanks for your suggestions. I'll try them out.
