I bought a couple of large storage boxes with lids in a natural material. They are a perfect storage for me and they fit above a wardrobe.
The problem is they have a strange odour, I stored a cushion in one of them and it came out smelling terrible.

Can anyone recommend a solution to get rid of the smell that they have used with success.

Thank you

The smell is a very toxic chemical used to kill any creature that may be lurking in the furniture!
It does fade with time.
I can remember when we had water hyacinth or similar furniture delivered from Indonesia the smell in our huge warehouse was overpowering.
I would try to absorb the odour rather than cover it.
Both coffee grounds and bicarbonate of soda work well.

Hadn't thought about chemical spray, that makes sense.
I'll give your suggestion a go.

Thank you

I'm very glad I looked at this thread. I have quite a few things of this nature, and my guinea pigs are fond of chewing them. Needless to say, they will all be removed and put in another room.
