Shiny paint will show up any bumps in the walls, Matt doesnt

We’ve always had lumpy bumpy walls!

We always used silk but now prefer vinyl matt, no shine but you can wipe off any grubby marks.

Matt always.

Definitely matt.

soft sheen

Matt unless your walls are perfectly smooth, in which case you might consider a silk/satin finish, which will reflect the light more. But matt conceals any irregularities. (Same applies with makeup!)

Matt every time. Shiny paint shows every mark and blemish

I had silk when I had children so it could be easily washed. My lovely house now has matt, on the walls I lovingly plastered and decorated myself.

Then daughter and darling grandson moved in. Into my pristine, white, calm oasis. It's not pristine, white or calm anymore. Wish I'd used silk.

Matt, always.

Matt for us. No shiny walls here.

The only room where we used vinyl silk is the bathroom. Matt everywhere else.

I prefer a soft silk sheen for my interior walls, easier to wipe down.

Farrow & Ball Estate emulsion, it's very matt.

Matt Endurance paint, more tough and scrubable than ordinary Matt emulsion.

Matt every time.

Matt

We had the woodwork downstairs done in satin instead of gloss.
It is not at all easy to wash although initially it looks better.

Matt.
The matter the better. grin

I like eggshell finish paint. It isn't as shiny as vinyl silk emulsion.

This is a lovely matt paint:

I am in the soft sheen or even vinyl silk camp. I like the light reflecting quality and the easy wipe down.

Satin for me. I find them easier to clean and they are not shiny at all, just a slight sheen in some lights.

Matt for me. I've gradually worked my way through the house getting rid of the silk vinyl walls. Woodwork is now satin finish.
