uk needs to be broken down for shandy. Sift out what you don`t want, remembering that south is nice and warm

south mid north scotland wales

east west mid

coastal inland almost coastal

rural town market town village

walking to shops/buses driving to shops/buses

handy station drive to station

Get my drift, once it is broken down then look closely online at areas. You know that you can be brave, we were all brave and you are young enough to make your new life. If U3A figures then factor that in

Shandy57 sorry about all the hassle. But you have exchanged contracts he can jump up and up down demanding this and that but you don't have to answer him. He is locked in once contracts are exchanged that's it neither you nor him can back out . He's like a petulant child. You don't have to answer any of his questions. The deal is done. Sooner you fine a new place far away from the area the happier you will be.

Hello again Luckygirl. I only got through the stress of it all with the support of my chums on here, and a bereavement site for the over 50's at way-up.co.uk/. Good luck and I hope your estate agent make the buyers prove their funds sooner, rather than later. My second cash buyer was texting me at all hours with silly questions (viewer gave him my number by mistake) - a month later it turned out his cash was being spent by his ex wife in Sweden! Grrrr!

Luckygirl Fri 15-May-20 13:21:19

Thanks for the good luck wishes Shandy57. I too hope that your sale goes through without a hitch. It is jolly stressful all this.

Thanks craftyone, I did the council tax thing last week, the only question they didn't ask was my bra size smile I have just made contact with an online water consultant, I phoned and phoned without reply last week but hopefully 'Charlotte' will now process it. I think I've told everyone apart from the dentist and Boots, who deliver my daughter's contact lenses. I think I've already told you I paid for my post to be redirected - my post lady had already started bringing my post to the cottage. I must tell her not to let the buyer know where I am, people here aren't conscious of other's privacy and always ask where you live, which I find odd.

New bin has arrived - quality isn't as good as my old one, but who cares, it's not mine!

craftyone Fri 15-May-20 12:46:18

I did my readings 3 weeks before completion, I was never going to use any of the utilities after that date, apart from a quick vacuum

craftyone Fri 15-May-20 12:44:00

Just telephone the council, you have to inform them anyway and tell them the station has been sold and the new buyer will complete on 25th?

Same with water, a telephone call and a meter read. they need some notice anyway. Its what you would do. S*d the letter. They will need to know the date of transfer and will ask for his name. Patronising asking you to write a letter. I did the phone calls here

The quicker you are away from that area the better. You are in an amazing position for buying, get to it, everything will take longer and soon even surveyors will be booked up

Shandy57 Fri 15-May-20 12:31:21

I've just heard from my solicitor. The purchaser's solicitor 'would like me to write to the council tax and water rates to confirm that the house is sold'. How patronising, do they think I'm going to continue paying his bills too??!!

Shandy57 Fri 15-May-20 08:07:07

Morning all, blue skies again here. I'm going to have to start taking medication for this hayfever, very bad this morning.

I let my dog return to the bedroom last night, unfortunately same thing, jumping up at the bed at silly o clock this morning. He never did it at the station, I don't know why he's doing it now.

Luckygirl I am keeping my fingers crossed you find another buyer quickly and can move forwards. I had two sales fall through and others here have had similar experiences, everything will be alright in the end smile I agree that savings account interest isn't worth having, I've just heard that my interest rate has dropped for the second time this month.

I need to start going to the dump today, oh joy. I think I'll get it all out and sort it into categories, I do have a lot of metal.

Have a good day everyone smile

Lucky girl brilliant news about the house hopefully you will get another buyer quickly for your bungalow. Fingers and toes crossed.

Had a look on right move today. Three of the bungalows that where on sale when mine was still haven't sold. All the prices have been reduced. Also looked to see if the properties near my old house that where on the market same time as mine had sold. Four are still on the market also with reduced prices.

Has anyone else looked at like me?

Luckygirl Thu 14-May-20 18:29:23

It is an empty new build, so just wore gloves.

My buyer has just withdrawn so things a bit up in the air - but agent is passing my offer on to the builder and thinks he will accept it, and is going to get my bungalow back on the market pdq. What will be, will be.

But being over in the village this afternoon just confirms my decision to do my utmost to get back there - I walked out of the door onto the common and bumped into three friends one after the other - that is what I need in my life!

Ellianne Thu 14-May-20 17:59:42

Excellent luckygirl, we will enjoy reading your updates.
Did you have you have to wear PPE to view the house?

aggie Thu 14-May-20 17:47:00

Yippee , so glad to see good news for you Lucky ?

midgey Thu 14-May-20 17:39:26

Whoops that was a fail!???

midgey Thu 14-May-20 17:36:16

Hurray Luckygirl! [champagne]

Luckygirl Thu 14-May-20 17:24:18

I love it!........will talk with DDs later and with estate agent tomorrow. Just keep fingers crossed that my buyer is still on board.

Shandy57 Thu 14-May-20 17:06:39

Just coming on to say that I must stop putting things off because I think they are hard. I haven't done a perfect job, but I have managed to hurl things around in my bedroom and organise it so you can see the floor. Only took about an hour, I've been absolutely dreading it. Yay, I can relax a bit now, bathroom is done too. smile

Ellianne Thu 14-May-20 15:16:07

That all sounds perfect for you Luckygirl. Good luck.

GrannySomerset Thu 14-May-20 14:42:24

Luckygirl - so pleased that something is going right and will keep fingers crossed that it all works out. You more than deserve it.

Shandy - you have done amazing things in the last few weeks when others of us were quietly vegetating. Hope house hunting goes well.

craftyone Thu 14-May-20 14:34:56

So many hard working determined women on here, to all of you flowers

craftyone Thu 14-May-20 14:33:42

That must have made your heart sing luckygirl, I hope everything drops into place for you

Whiff Thu 14-May-20 13:55:28

Franbern glad you are ok and the payment to b& b was stopped. It will look lovely when it's finished at least the paint with dry quickly in this heat.

Ellianne loved your bread.

Luckgirl hope all goes well for your sale and purchase.

Shandy57 that's a bit of good news for you hope there's a lot of oil so he has to pay you a lot.

Loft is all clear of insulation and wood. Including the 2 long dead mice. When to put something's into the skip there is a large safe in it. Don't know where that came from it wasn't there yesterday. Shower room etc being done the start of June. Had a good 2 hours in the garden . Weeded and finished edging the triangle bed with large rocks. Probably have a nap in a bit. As I'm quiet tired.

Shandy57 Thu 14-May-20 13:34:19

I'm trying to find my second wind Franbern, I think I really overdid it, I can't bounce back yet.

Good luck Luckygirl!

I've just popped in to let you know that my purchaser has decided he will pay for the oil. He wants to know the price I paid per litre, the level in the tank, and the make and model of the tank. I'm very glad the tank is newish, I had to buy a new one in 2016 so it is double bunded and meets legal requirements.

midgey Thu 14-May-20 12:55:29

Oh how good to hear a bit of positive news for you Luckygirl!

Luckygirl Thu 14-May-20 11:45:12

Fingers crossed today! I am going to view a new build property today - in the tiny village where all my friends live and where we used to live. I had my name down on a small semi there when I was in the situation where I needed to generate some money to pay OH's nursing home fees. Now that he has died I have just realised that I can afford one of the detached homes, so I am off to see it this afternoon - two to choose from.

If I like it I think I will go for that as it is probably better to invest in property than to put money in the virtually nil interest accounts - it feels better to me than having to trawl around for ethical investments. It is slightly bigger than I really need, but I will just not use a couple of the bedrooms.

I so hope it is OK as I really need to back in my spiritual home now I am on my own.

I have a buyer for here, who has had a survey done, so I just have to hope that they do not drop out.
